The way Sora entered the scene, carelessly flying over everyone as if he's saying "It's gonna be alright. I'm here now" gave me chills and got a little emotional too. That music will always have the same impact on KH fans. This has been known for a while and was 100% confirmed back during the Disney Infinity days by a Disney exec. Notice whose name comes first on the box. Its Disney. Notice who holds the copyright on Sora for smash. Its Disney. Notice who os the main focus on EVERY KH copyright screen. Its Disney. It even acknowledges that Square only holds copyrights for their content (FF, TWEWY). A quick google search can tell you that Disney owns KH. Do they have to consult with Nomura before doing snything with KH? Yes but the same is true for the other side. Its a respect thing and part of the deal but Disney owns Sora, KH, and ALL original KH content lock, stock, and barrel.

Sora's whole purpose as a character is to be a shining beacon in the darkness, to uplift when sadness seems so overwhelming. So isn't it painfully perfect that, while we all prepare for the wild ride of Smash Ultimate to end, Sora comes not only to seal that finale, but comfort us and bring us joy at the same time? As much as Doomslayer or Crash or Rayman mean to video games, none of them holds that thematic weight, and none of them could have ended Smash as perfectly as Sora. Thank you, Sakurai

I had a similar feeling. If you followed Smash since the beginning over 20 years ago, Smash was always about imagination. How we use our imagination when we play with toys. The Smash flame going out, is the imagination finally coming to an end, and it is time to put away the toys. The last flame represented that the imagination is not over yet. There is still a little bit more. Sora and Kingdom Hearts represents that same imagination energy so well. It is fitting that they were able to end it on Sora.

im no smash player so its coming from a guy like that, but i feel a bit weird about the whole concept. first it was just nintendo characters. now almost every original nintendo character is in and plenty of offbrand as well. but the balance is weird and a lot of famous characters are missing. i know it doesnt work like that but still they should somehow put in a couple of more like crash badicoot and master chief and rayman ( is pacman there ?? ) also some indie stuffs like hollow knight or not so indie ori. even characters like klonoa are exist and the list is so long. abe's exodus, doom guy ( which would go well with samus and master chief ), maybe a family friendly mortal kombat as well ( raiden forexmpl ) or prince from persia heck there are lost vikings and lemmings as well we can go back so far...

Fortnight is all about micro transactions though, cuz the base game is free, so they would of course release a bunch of stuff to get people to throw their money at them. Smash is a full $60 game and their DLCs are more limited so it definitely has a different feel to it. They don’t NEED the extra money, it’s just something nice to add for the fans that want it.

Kingdom Hearts, for me, has always been a huge part of my life. its one of the first games I truly connected with, and I was excited for every new game I could find. Watching Sora, Riku, Kairi, Roxas, Ventus, and all of the crazy characters as I struggled through the game was always amazing for me. Sadly, I had given up hope for Sora to ever come to smash despite really wanting him too and plus I had to work during the live stream. On a break I scrolled through the news articles on google and found Sora was in smash as one of the first headlines. I checked out the actual trailer after work but it felt empty since I already knew he was in it. But i'm still really happy hes in the game, and of course very happy the games are coming to switch at long last.

I've never played any KH games. I know a lot about it from friends and general word of mouth in the gaming community, and personally being a fan of Final Fantasy, I have that bit of connection to KH, but very little, and generally didn't care much for it. That being said, I teared up at Sora's announcement, I felt the impact this had on the community and how happy all the fans who wanted him must've been, and like you said, what his inclusion means to the fandom. It was the perfect ending to Ultimate, they couldn't have picked a better last character. Hats off to Sakurai and the Smash Ultimate team!

It was probably still in development since Disney has the majority licensing rights to Kingdom Hearts. The amibo of Sora will likely be showcased at a bigger event like The 20th Anniversary Fan presentation Square Enix and Disney will be hosting next year. Other viable options is we won’t be able to see it until either the video game awards in November for the upcoming Xmas season or in March -April for the next E3 of 2022 being an in person and online hybrid event.

this has been the best reveal in the history for me. 2nd was the reveal for Joker. Best thing everything was so fitting. - The build up on the start seeing a fire again. (everyone was like another fire emblem character???) was so good. - The music that was used which has been suiting for people to go emotional. - the relief sakurai when he showed off the poster and mentioned how hard the team went thru. You have no idea how livid it made me to hear my friend whine about Sora being in the game and wishing it was Master Chief. I think he's the perfect end point for the DLC and Smash as a whole for what he represents. A crossover to end all crossovers and the fact that Sakurai could even get past the legal hellscape that is Disney AND Square Enix to get Sora into the game.

Sora always seemed to me like he walked a fine line between video game character and Disney character, so the fact that he made it into Smash was something I didn't expect at all. That said, I'm happy he made it in (even though something's telling me that, if another Smash game gets announced, the cry for Goku will be louder than ever).

I've been playing the Kingdom Hearts Series since I was 12 with my friend Alex. I am now 31. I played and beat KH3 last year. Alex and I were going to meet up when stuff was safer/after getting vaccinated to hang out and talk about Kingdom Hearts 3. He passed away last December, on the 28th. We had briefly mentioned Sora being in Smash Ultimate someday on Facebook one time and we were always skeptical about it ever happening. This reveal today nearly broke me because not only did we not get to talk about KH3 together but we never got to cheer about Sora finally getting into Smash. That orchestral music kicks in and all of a sudden I'm 12 again and I'm staying up till 2am with Alex trying to beat Sephiroth in the Olympus Colliseum. Sora wasnt something I ever thought would happen, but damn does it feel good to see.

I am so incredibly happy that Sora is the final character. He has been my light and my all time favorite character. ^^ it is as you said- it makes perfect sense for Sora to be in Smash. As someone who loves Kingdom hearts so much, I can't help but get a little emotional about this reveal. I am also really happy that Sakurai was the one who did this. I do have to admit, KH3 could have been better, but- I still did enjoy it. I am also excited for whatever Sakurai does next. ☺️

Tbh I'm not an avid smash player (I gave my copy to my little brother) and I tried to get into kingdom hearts but it wasn't my bread and butter but just seeing this and seeing how this game brings everyone together all these people and companies makes me emotional honestly. I just love seeing people passionate for the things they love and when I actually watched this live with you (heyo) I had the biggest smile on my face just knowing how many people came together to make this happen and how many people are going to come together because of this.

Man, it’s crazy. Sora has been with me since I was 5, and KH1 literally helped me learn English from the many many times I’ve played it. It’s so awesome seeing him essentially enter the video game hall of fame: Smash. I am beyond happy right now :)

This is what I've been saying all along. That Sora is the best.. FINAL ..character. He embodies that spirit of finality more so than any other character I can think of. His innocence, his magical quality, his core of friendship is power... it all just encapsulates that celebration of video games and togetherness so perfectly. Many characters would have made excellent additions to the smash roster. But a *FINAL* pick?.... anything compared to Sora would just be anticlimactic.

Unfortunately, with all the harassment that some people have given Sakurai and the rest of Nintendo over Waluigi not being in Smash, introducing him would give people the idea of doing the same for other characters. As soon as that started, there was basically no way that he would ever have made it. A huge shame, especially for those of us who just politely requested for him or just silently hoped for him. Rest in peace Waluigi. Hopefully someday you’ll get your own game, and prove you don’t need Smash to be great.

KH is something I grew up with... My mom used to watch me play KH and Zelda more then anything else. Kh3 was the last game she truly watched me play before she passed away from cancer 2 years ago. KH isn't perfect but it feels like a warm blanket.. something that just makes you feel good and tbh since my mom got sick years ago it's become a comfert game. Anyway he is also perfect for everything else you mentioned. His franchise is legit based off of other properties and making it in just feels right ❤️

As someone who has been playing smash since I was 5 on the nintendo 64, and kingdom hearts since i was 6 on the PS2 when it released, i am so unbelievably happy. My childhood was these two games, i would play smash with my friends and family and seeing it grow has meant so much to me. As for kingdom hearts, i was always getting stuck and struggling to get through it, but my friends were there to help me out and hangout while i played it. These are 2 of my favorite games of all time that ive been playing each installment of since release. Its always been my dream for them to come together, but I knew it was a pipe dream and i had accepted that. But with this release to finish off one of my childhood games, the feelin is so bittersweet and incredible. For me, this was the most incredible gift i could've been given from gaming. Even now I still can't believe how lucky i am, and i wish others could also have an experience this incredible. For me, this was much more than just some character, it was an experience that has been built up for over 20 years.
