Now I understand. I follow many skincare forums and when someone tells their age in a post, nine times out of ten they’re sure to add that they don’t look their age, though. Having lost best friends in their thirties and forties, I can tell you that they were both far too young. Enjoy the blessing of seeing another year, so many of us don’t get to.

Some say they’ll become a fem because they can’t be an old stud/butch. That saddens me. Even other lesbians or queer folks are making fun of them. Yeah, it’s a joke but those are your people man lol. Which makes me feel a bit afraid to age (I’m 22 now) because older butches/ studs are just talked down on. In a way that is hidden behind the word “joking”. We never are seen as attractive really. I had a 21” waist at the time. I carry my weight in my chest/butt. From that moment I developed an ED, and because obsessed with my weight. Even almost 20 years later, after healing and all, I still have those moments where I become critical of the way I look. That’s why I am always kind to people, especially with their bodies.

I find it a lot of folk 35+ years old are obsessed with trying to make gen Z think we’re the ones who look old, I think it’s a coping mechanism. They want to compete with us and feel good when they find a 20 something year old who looks older when back then it was even more of a phenomenon than it is now. 14 year olds back in the day looked 20! But somehow gen Z is the first generation to have young folk who look older than their generation? I’m not going for that. You look your age ma’am/sir and that’s okay! Quit trying to compare yourself to these youngins there will always be new beauties coming up.

I’m confused on why being in your 30s is considered old????! Like serious?, that’s not even a standard age to become a grandparent, nor is it considered middle age… Like why is society pushing the requirement back on what’s considered young? With modern medicine the average person lives close to 70 easy… I say this as a person who recently lost a parent in their early 50s… ( which is fairly young to die). You don’t realize how young someone is until they’re passed on… then everyone wants to drop down in the comments and say “omg; they were young” ….. Lastly; being young doesn’t automatically make you an attractive person…. I think your features and ascetic plays a big role in that. Just my two cents
@stefaniegueye6936 ай бұрын
The conversation underscores that the basic necessities one needs to live not survive but live should be housing, clean water, income,health and dental care. Systemic desirability is real and if you are in parts where we store our homeless, mobility impaired, and mental health issues you will find mostly dark skin blacks, mobility impaired and the like. It’s horrible and I for one , is sick of seeing the same folks who society deems desirable. I would love to see more people like smaller people, people in wheel chairs, blind people. I would love to see their artistry, the intellect etc. I would love just a different perspective sometimes and knowledge of other challenges and accolades instead of who got a bbl or “I was once 600 pounds and now I’m a size 2 and you can do it too” just sick 🤢 of the same old thing.

Yall just got weak ankles 😂. A lot of us don’t have any of that and we wore heels all the time. It’s all about not cheating your feet. There is a such thing as comfortable heels. The girl in the video was actually wearing comfortable heels. I have always hated the pointy pumps. Those were made to un-alive women’s feet if you ask me.
@tcyk15006 ай бұрын
Heels are not the cause of that. If that was case the men and children wouldn't have them. Friction and to tight or small shoes are the culprit

It’s not obsession of beauty- it’s an obsessive fear of death and Age is a distinct measure to how close you are to death. Even tho we all know u can die at any age (fetuses get aborted daily) however the closer u are to death scares or alarms our human nature. The 2nd part is Hollywood’s pedophilic youth desire and praise that we’ve all consumed for generations as well and apply to our everyday. We’ve all associated ourselves w/ certain characters in movies/shows etc., and leaves or left an impression on us that we implement in our personalities and behavior.

This is why I left social media years ago. I feel like the entire world is watching a horror movie (Instagram,tik Tok etc) at all times and then try to rationalize how "the movie is fake", saying that these apps aren't programming and affecting everyone mental health and everyone perception.

The 1st woman is ridiculous. I hope she wasn't serious. Women don't wear heels to the club anymore because you're standing up and dancing for hours and we want to be comfortable. Why does it bother her so much what other people wear on their feet? She looks every bit of 34, and what's wrong with that? 34 is still young.

Stop lying, you know you haven't seen anyone dance in a club in the last 10 years.
@yabba355575 ай бұрын
For the past 10 years nobody has danced in the clubs. Be honest. People go to clubs to stand around and be validated by men. You want the man to tell you you’re fine or beautiful and if they’re cute enough you might twerk on them or something lol that’s it. Now if you aren’t validated that night then you go home feeling insecure about yourself. Where is the fun in that lol

Love this conversation being woken up. I fit in the category of your light skinned friend, minus the hazel eyes and yes people do comment on my looks in random spaces where it’s not needed, borderline inappropriate i.e. at work or in the ER. I also purpose to compliment everyone, specifically dark skinned and fat and disabled etc people in public settings for this very reason! Everyone deserves to get loved on and also attempting to subvert the narrative you’re discussing here.

Vanity. Give people in general these two choices: A. Live for only another 10 years but as they were in their early 20s & susceptible to any and all health issues B. Live for a minimum of 50 more years, with a guaranteed clean bill of health, but visually be in their 40s.

I’m 25 and she definitely tried it lmaooo, I’m from Miami, the girls always wear high heels whenever we go out but judging the girl for not wearing heels when she pulled out the Monica “before you walk out my life” 3000’s is crazy work. She definitely look 34 and that’s not a bad thing.

I am 40 and I get told by ppl (normally white and brown ppl) all the time that I look like I'm in my late 20s early 30s. I don't try it just happens and that seems to be the case for most black ppl I know. I don't see many black women or men trying to look younger. Sometimes just getting your hair done for whatever reason brings out the youth in black ppl.

I love the aesthetic of high heels, but I don't have the balance/coordination to walk from one end of the street to the other, let alone the club.

I thought this could be answered simply. I feel like we look our best in our 20s. I know for me, I want to look my best at all times. I feel like my best version of myself is my 25 year old self. To each their own tho 🤷🏽♀️

On point as usual. I remember when I was young I was skinny as a rail, and I had a nice face, but thick has always been, no matter the face, so too skinny wasn’t desirable in my day. That’s why you have to have self love, have confidence no matter the body you are in, and most importantly don’t worry about what people say or think of your body!!❤

ppl.are just becoming daf, to have another rotation on this earth is a blessing. you.have a dawn and everyone WILL have a dusk when it's time to transition out. the ability to age gracefully and softly is a blessing there is nothing you can do to defeat the process of aging it's happening, it's about how you deal with it and how you move through that as you age

Ageism is real. Colorism is real. Anything that reflects on things that are beyond their control should not reflect on their abilities. Biden did a lot but he was dropped becz of his age. I fought growing older for years but now I don't mind becz I know I have the experience that these "young" people are trying to get.
@khamrhod83606 ай бұрын
Ageism is definitely a problem in certain aspects but the Biden situation was pretty valid

a lot of millennials are not happy with where they are in their lives. Social media makes you feel like you should be a millionaire and traveled the world by 25. So looking younger or holding onto youth makes people feel like they still have time. In reality you do have time, plenty of time to accomplish goals. Very few people tick off all of their life goals by 30

I really enjoy your commentary especially on misogyny, and colorism. I am a light skin black woman who has witnessed the favoritism given to them. Yes I said them because although I am light skin, I am also fat and I don’t get that treatment at all!! So can you please talk about that because if you don’t fit the complete aesthetic, you’re considered ugly.

It’s always the boastful people who say “I know I don’t look my age” and “I look like I am 23” who truly do look their age or older. People need to be humble and allow,others to pay them the compliment.

I am 31 and still feel young and beautiful. I don't understand how being in your early 30s is considered so old in this day in age, especially being black... we usually do still look like our 20s. I find it strange.
