This is a perfect example of being thin-skinned and trying to turn everyone into a victim. Trying to skirt around the concept is not helping anyone. Also people like something different, netta and Charles are different, different has always been entertaining. But when Mrs. Netta go out and gets slayed by makeup artists, made up, she looks nice like most celebrities, if you see most celebrities without makeup, they look average, normal. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I don’t find them ugly, not the most beautiful, but I’ve seen worse. Also, people expect Mrs. Netta to go hide and she’s not, she seems comfortable in her own skin but people trying to break her down.

I really want you to write a book breaking down desirability one day. Have you ever thought of doing that in the future? Your careful and critical thinking about this is so necessary for our community
@NTY127 ай бұрын
I wonder why we are so concerned with what other people desire why not focus on reinforcing self love. We can’t change what people find attractive/unattractive but we can control how we feel about ourselves.
@CulturalMisfitt7 ай бұрын
@@NTY12 I think self love is critical. But learning self love in a system of power imbalances and hierarchy, certainly requires a deeper level of understanding optics and desirability. Humans need validation and to feel like they belong (desired). And if those systems exists that prescribe certain folks should be treated less than or given less access to basic needs that are necessary for a thriving life, self love without having a critical understand of desirability politics will prove to be a difficult feat. And it may be nearly impossible for many people due to the psychological toll it takes.
@NTY127 ай бұрын
@@CulturalMisfitt I understand that. I think a lot of us may have subconscious preferences for whats “desirable” and it creates inner turmoil, that has to be addressed before attempting to change things outside of ourselves. Like do we believe those negative associations and thats why its so painful to some of us?

I feel this way about how they exploit that girl Dynasty. I recently saw a video of her having a medical issue. Why would anyone decide to record and upload that? It's very sad.

You 100% hit the nail on the head. I also create content (mainly for TT) and I spoke on people giving bad influencers a platform. And that based on how you look determines your value in society. If you’re attractive but boring or problematic you can still have an opportunity for success or if you’re considered unattractive based on societal standards you have to be funny/chaotic/self deprecating. If you’re average and have a calm personality you basically don’t exist. And yes it does affect the outside world. As a dark skin, plus size, tall woman I have always been the “ugly” friend regardless of who I’m with. Doesn’t matter if I’m kind or intelligent the person who looks “better” gets attention even if I know they are a toxic person. I don’t know I find taking the time to write insults in people’s comments such a weird thing to do. And I admit sometimes the comments can be funny but overall still so strange.

I always enjoyed Ms Netta your lunch is ready videos. I don’t like how people hyped them up just to tear them apart. Ms Netta be on the internet arguing for her life b/c people pick with everything she does! Like ok her purse is fake, hell mine is too! If she was visually aesthetically pleasing to certain people standards they wouldn’t do her like that

Im not on tiktok much so I haven't watched any of Ms. Netta's content. But I am on twitter and people have brought her content there so I know of her. Apprently there was some kind of blowup on tiktok yesterday because Ms. Netta made criticisms of Black women. Saw the comments on twitter and the immediate reasponse was to misgender Ms.Netta, call her ugly, and talk about her skin. Rather than just talking about the problematic things Ms. Netta said about Black women.

I don’t understand how this is not seen as a human trait. We all look for attractiveness whether we’re aware or not. Attractiveness lets us know the health or well-being of another individual. Blemishes, bumps, bruises, body type, size, all of it matters. I don’t think we get to disregard a person’s physical appearance. We should definitely try harder to not take away someone’s humanity because if it. But manipulating one’s own appearance is as old as human beings are.

And lets talk about how society and social media let who ever benefit "pretty pretty" get away things that some who are deemed "less attractive". They call miss netta rude and nasty for responding to hate comments..but if it was a person like Ari fletcher mf would have that energy for her.
@tracienotstacie75777 ай бұрын
Heres the thing with Shemar, People are willing to exploit him, and his sister is his payee for his disability benefits. The people use him for clicks and views and then discard him. They are just as guilty as his sister, who is not doing right by him. For Miss Netta, she plays into the stigma people put on her. As a plus size woman, I have experienced anti-fatness but when people play into it on Tik Tok it doesn't help as well for example when I see a plus size person making a view eating without using the best table manners and playing into the sterotype that plus size people are nasty and unkept and sit around eating junk and large amounts of food. When a more thinner woman says "I'm happy being single without a man" it's empathized and if a plus size woman says it it and here are the comments about because weight and they put the jacket of low self esteem on them. It's a sad double standard, but honestly, I think it's about knowing who are within yourself. The world will always have their standard, and you live by yours. My aunt had a saying, "It doesn't matter if you are a brick house or brick building. Someone is going to want your real estate!"💓
@justcallmebetty77177 ай бұрын
It's been my observation with Shamar that as soon as housing is provided to him he abuses it because he continuously wants to live beyond his means, and treat people like shit! then he comes back crying and saying he's homeless and hungry and in need of a specific I phone. He needs a REAL caretaker that will monitor him and his spending. Now with Miss Netta( who i like) needs to get off of social media because she is not made for this, her skin is not thick enough and she can't NOT respond to the trolls. i would love to see her go back to to her happy smiling self who was just happy being herself and feeding her man.
