Love your recipe I will try it...also Martha Stewart NEVER went to culinary school and she NOT a Celebrity Chef. I have followed her since 1985 when she did table decorations and cake decorating. She just became so popular and cooked more and her Cook/Decorating book was a Best Seller and then Voila!❤

I think the other reason you don’t need to wash mushrooms is that I read (heard?) commercially grown mushrooms are grown in moss or a mix of bits of wheat and and other edible stuff (which is then pasteurized so bacteria is killed). You can just wipe them down with a paper towel but I like your technique better!
@nutrientmatters2 жыл бұрын
I heard that too but wasn’t sure about it! Good to know!

Yes you wash mushrooms. Unless you know exaty where your food comes from, please wash it before consuming. People get e-coli and salmonella from unwashed produce. It's rare, but it happens.
@tiaweidman4 ай бұрын
Wipe with damp paper towel. Washed mushrooms become rubbery. Water isn’t going to kill E. coli or salmonella. Only heat will.

They actually make a little brush to clean mushrooms. A lot of times I will take a damp paper towel and gently clean them without soaking them in water too much. Conventional wisdom suggests you do not want them to get wet because it adds extra water to whatever you’re cooking them in. And typically you want to sauté them separately to caramelize first which will remove the water. They will brown up typically will take longer.

I didn't like the feta pasta recipe because I find it's just too much! I think feta should be a condiment, a few chunks mixed into your salad. I have also used it in a pasta sauce with other cheeses and vegetables, but in a far less quantity than the other cheeses. It'd like using toasted sesame oil. A little goes a long way!
