Nice set up‼️ Getting ready to put a mustache bar on my 93 dale m500. May even go 1x7 with a pizza rack. It’s my backup/errand bike. I really like the sweep on those Nitto bars. 👌

Those old cannondales are awesome. Which bars are you thinking of running? Next time I would consider friction shifting!

@@slimboykip I’m looking at the Soma Clearance 25.4, Deore friction shifters, and some Ergon grips.

Those look perfect for an errand bike. Good luck with your build!!

Sounds like you have your setup dialed for all conditions. Appreciate the support, more soon!

Love this! Matches my experience super well. I've got a Brother Kepler which is the dopest bike ever and I've got flat bars and foamies on it. Works great for local chilling and just riding around the area - I put a pizza rack on it when I want to carry stuff too. But it really sucks for longer rides!

I've been guessing about this setup as well. 'Rigid MTB' would be another good description. Isn't it actually a nineties MTB made from todays components?
@slimboykip3 жыл бұрын
Hey, thank you for watching! The disc brakes, modern wheels, and 1x setup with wide gearing make it feel next-level compared to my 90's mtb. Both are super fun, but ride differently!
@fbrams3 жыл бұрын
@@slimboykip Very few people are missing canti brakes ;-) Flatbar gear levers require different derailleurs, don't they? That's why I wondered, if a modern hardtail would be an easier start for building a rigid mtb. Maybe it depends on the favored tire width. From stock I know that configration by the companies genesis, gunsha, marin, of course salsa and surly. As the intended target group is entry level, the components correspond.
@slimboykip3 жыл бұрын
@@fbrams Totally agree! I definitely think for a trail rider starting with a hardtail is the way to go - This bike has a sram 11speed road system - and the Apex1 shifter is available so paired with the force RD it makes it work without having to get a whole new mtb RD. This bike is a good compromise since the trails in my town are short and there are lots of roads connecting so its fun on both pavement and dirt.

Can always use rigid 26 with disc and one by drivetrain with slicks for same use.

I ordered the Ritchey Kyote to replace the flat bar that replaced my drop bars. The wrist angle on the flat bar caused problems on a long ride.
@slimboykip3 жыл бұрын
How do you like the Kyote?
@clinchleatherwood10123 жыл бұрын
@@slimboykip Just got them installed Saturday. I haven't taken them on a long ride yet but I'll update soon.
@clinchleatherwood10123 жыл бұрын
@@slimboykip Finally got to take the bike out with the Kyote bars. I liked them over the flat bar. I put Profile design Boxer Bars in between the grips close to the curve and that offered a different had position. I still got a little hand numbness at around 15 miles but not as bad as the curve bars or flat bars.

Just use 26 inch mountain bike with slicks and skip gravel bike 🚳.

It’s too late, I already did it! Haha, but I also love 26” mtbs - they’re fun, look awesome and it feels good to keep classic machines running.
