None of The Omen movies were based on books. All were written for the screen. The first novel is by the screenwriter, David Seltzer, based on his own screenplay, which he wrote first. Damien Omen II by Joseph Howard and The Final Conflict by Gordon McGill were novelizations of their screenplays. Omen IV: Armageddon 2000 and Omen 5: The Abomination by Gordon McGill were original novels that were never filmed. But oh, yeah... Omen IV: The Awakening is absolutely dreadful. The entire series has a downward trajectory. The Omen is great, Damien Omen II is good, The Final Conflict is disappointing, Omen IV: The Awakening is atrocious, and the 2006 remake of the original is pointless.

You know what is funny. This movie was my introduction to The Omen franchise so I don't have this burning hatred for it like I do for Halloween Resurrection 😠. Don't get me wrong, after watching the first 3 films I can safely say it's trash. Still, I can't hate on it too much.

I have to say, as a child, this was probably the scariest film I saw. It was the first movie I saw where there was no happy ending and the forces of evil triumphed. Totally freaked me out. And I had never heard anything about the Antichrist or any of that before, which is of course, pretty freaky stuff as a kid if you were hitherto unfamiliar with it. I think the girl did a great job as Deliah and the scene where she murders the babysitter was legitimately scary, as was the scene where she was playing on the merry go round that the babysitter fell to her death upon. It had spooky scenes, it just didn't necessarily come together as a strong, coherent whole. Your review cracked me up though. And remember, you saw this as basically an adult, whereas I saw this as a 4th grader. So the effect is totally different. It's always going to sort of scare me because, given when I saw it, it taps into my childhood fears like few others do. I'd count your blessings though, because to judge by the end credits, they were planning on a sequel.

You forget to tell that this is your opinion, it sucks according to you !! Many people like it, including me. Just because it's not based on the book, so what?? I think this movie was different from the previous ones, but the cast was brilliant, including the girl !! Everyone played superb and I also liked the plot. Obviously they wanted to create a differnet kind of character of the evil, especially beacuse it's a girl this time. I think it's a good, since it differs in that too.

Totally agree! Omen 4 is definitely a black spot of the series. I forgot that it first came out on tv. Pretty awesome you still got the books. Wow! Thanks for this review. Enjoyed it.

I think if the effects and execution and storyline were cleaned up and filled out it could have be been better. They used terrible music for most if the climatic scenes but i liked that they kept some of the original soundtrack for a few. Example when the priest dies. Most if the deaths were not taken seriously and music sounded whimsical. I did not mind the character of delia she did have the dark creepy girl thing but they wrote her over the top And if only they reworked the storyline to have the background story of damien and what we know as part of it this would have been better. I feel the writers and makers of this movie just made choices I don't understand that watered it down and watered the connection to the other movies down.

I admit Omen 4 pales in comparison with the trilogy. The Omen is a masterpiece and Damien Omen II isn't that far behind it , it's a terrific sequel. Omen 3 is ok mainly because Sam Niell is excellent but the film is anti climatic and doesn't live up to the promise laid out by Omen and Omen 2. And it was too rushed Damien went from 13 in Omen 2 to 32 in Omen 3 in my opinion Omen 3 should of been Damien in college. Omen 4 isn't that great but I seen worse and I like it better than that useless remake from 2006

i disagree, part 4 is better than part 3, part 3 has a bad history, the acting is poor compare whti the 1, 2 and 4 , part 3 hasnt the same atmosphere
