Welcome back! Downtime is part of vanlife (even with a T6 like mine). There's always something to fix or to upgrade, but the reward is worth the time, effort and money spent. So excited for the new season! Keep up the good work!

We keep pushing, I know we will enjoy the fruits of this labour eventually. And as you say, the reality of these vans needs to be balanced, you get enough of idyllic perspectives on how these vans behave via Instagram etc!

Welcome back, we couldn't wait for the next episode. I spent last winter in my garage in freezing temperatures, upgrating and repairing my T4 with similar problems to yours. Some things I have repaired 3-4 times and there is still a lot to be fixed. I hope the cars will pay us back in the summer. As for rust, try to see bodyshops in Poland, certainly they are much cheaper than in Norway.

I had a lot of trouble selecting gears after a gearbox change. The problem was in the year linkage from the stick to the gearbox. I changed all the bushes and the gear selector and got a kit to refurbish the gearstick. It made a huge difference and the parts were relatively cheap. I changed everything I could get. Just Kampers in the UK do a bundle kit with everything you need

I feel your pain, my T4 has been off the road for 3 months, with various issues. Progress is slow, but I'm getting there and fingers crossed I should have it running by the end of next week. I hope you resolve your issues soon.

please have the CV axle joints replaced , they can cause you to loose drivability if one breaks or the bolts fall out leaving you stranded. this happened to me in the first mile after I subaru swapped my van which was really sad but luckily I was close to home. can't wait to see truck norris back at it and watch some more amazing videos from you two. love the channel. cheers!

We know what you are going through. Had to replace the engine in our '87 westfalia hochdach this winter. And loads of parts in the rear end chasing a different problem. It is painful, and expensive...

I had to replace the transmission at 250Kmiles. At that time I added the positraction. If you have to do the transmission, I highly recommend it. You'll have better traction in snow and sand.

Hi Simon. We feel some of your pain. We also ran into major issue. Our SVX EG33 engine failed on a newly purchased Vanagon and we are replacing now with another EG33 that works. EG33 is the Unicorn of Subaru engines so we have spent the winter searching for the EG33 once we realized we had a Head Gasket issue. We look forward to traveling also this spring and will hopefully have our Bus back in another month. Good luck with the Clutch and we look forward to seeing your next video !!!

Many vanlife channels have had to adapt for one reason or another. Many have homestead or some have changed country. Some have changed to backyard exploring. Just depends on how much you actually love the process of content creation. I’m sure you will get back on the road sometime soon.

Yeah, that's the thing... I know you can apply some a protecting coat underneath the van, but Im not sure I trust it enough to spend money on it while being sure that its good enough to actually start using the van winter time.

Hi. Just wondering when Norris was just turning over but not starting, how did you get him started? Did you have to adjust the timing..... I'm having trouble with my own van that is just turning over but not starting so just wondering what you did. Thanks love the show.

Hi! He started eventually, just needed to circulate out air and make sure the different fluids reached the correct places. We timed the engine before starting it.

Slowly, i have t3 10 years and know all the problems. (At least I think I know) In any case, the problems are always present but they can be solved. The T3 is a vehicle with a soul and when I look at you I see myself in the past tense. Good luck with the problems and keep shooting video.

Oh, maybe I can say the same in a decade from now. Until then I will keep learning how to fix it and bring tools and spare parts along the journey. So rewarding to fix things and I think all the challenges just enhances the experience.

The problem with your van is the hydraulic system, I had the same problem with my t4 bc there was a leak in the hydraulic system the clutch started to fade away as I was driving and at a certain moment I just couldnt shift anymore. I had to replace the whole clutch and hydraulic system. It hurts the wallet but feels good knowing my van will last for a long time now ;)

I really hated constantly having to crack the bleed valve on the radiator. It's currently out of stock, but I would definitely order one of these when available. It'll make your life so much easier. intrepidoverland.com/shop/t3-vanagon-front-heater-valve/

hydraulic master and a pain in the butt to remove slave cylinder and a metal line and flex line - my 85 gas vanagon clutch system....as for me, 252 miles, and subaru engine failure, I too have spring fever ! Following... found one guy who is on subaru engine 4 or 5...well, my limit is 2 more (4 is my total limit) then, I'm going back to air cooled....rust work has already started on the 78 bay

These are 33-40 year old vehicles. Any vehicle that old will require constant upkeep. Be prepared, or buy another type of vehicle.

I repeat again- for the money and TIME you spent fixing your van, you could buy 2 new vans :) I understand that you disagree, but just calculate your hours and convert to money and you will see that I'm wright ;) From what I see in your videos- this car was born to create problems :)) I'm sitting in another side of the screen and already want it to burn, so imagine what I would do if it was my car and had such a lot of troubles :)
