That is serious progress, can't wait to hear it running again ready for more adventures. Don't forget to angle the pump for the diesel heater to avoid trapped air. It's also worth using/making a rubber mount to reduce noise from the pump. I used a couple off rubber exhaust mounts and it has made a Big difference.

Great progress guys, I was wondering how you were getting on with the install. Love the garage banter with your friends too, they're really funny!! You can get an exhaust muffler (silencer) for the heater that will make it quieter and also I'm not sure if you have one or not but where the fuel pump for the heater is fitted it should have a rubber damper to absorb shock and it'll also be quieter when you're trying to sleep. When it's running you get a steady tick, tick, tick from the pump and if it's not rubber mounted it sounds really loud. Can't wait to see it all up and running you've both done a great job
@SimonBraeck3 жыл бұрын
Pretty stoked about the effort put in last weekend, lots of things went down and we learned new stuff each day. Thank you for the tips regarding the heater, it didn't come with a muffler even though I have seen they are common for others. Will have a look into your suggestions, thanks!

@jukkah52833 жыл бұрын
Very inspiring! Brings back memories from the days I had a similar VW. Now a different one but a diesel heater setup like yours. That is why I suggest two mods. 1) the exhaust pipe should be bent downwards and it cannot have a horizontal part in the middle. Otherwise you end up in trouble with a frozen pipe. The heter will not start or it will stop working when you least expect it. Also a silencer in the exshaust pipe is something you will want to install after having used it once. 2) take the fresh air to the heater from outside the car. That will keep the car interior dry and helps in getting fresh air in. I have experienced a frozen exhaust pipe when it was -25C outside. It does not make one laugh.

It‘s for me hard to belive, that someone throws so much money to a T3. Just because it is a Cult or what is the reason? Can anyone tell me?? For that money you could buy a nice Toyota, prove me wrong. O.K. You got me I am not a Fan of VW, had too much trouble with them. Sorry But for an fire up, I am always ready 😉

No other van has such a character like the rear engined VW's. Knowing the competition quite well, they me be a bit more reliable during the first 5 years, but then this only advantage is lost.

Strange choice for a swap. There are many better and more powerful vw diesels out there.

Mainly because of getting it road legal. Strict restrictions here, would definitely like more power

Does the oil pan changes the oil capacity on this engine. Could you please give me info on the oil pan. I purchased a t3 with jetta 2.0 aba engine with that same oil pan installed but would like to know more about the oil pan .
