I am a third generation Sooner graduate. I have been to every OU vs Texas game in the Cotton Bowl since 1976. I have watched many outstanding plays, players, and teams during those games. Simply put, there is no greater atmosphere, game, or rivalry than OU vs Texas.

@@okieclipper5783 all the ones OU won! LOL. There have been so many great games, I cannot pick one. I would say the '96 game because OU was a 21 point underdog and I bet a UT friend a big bet straight up. I can still see Jerrail Jackson returning the punt for a TD; the '01 game that was the Sooners won 14 -3 with the Superman play; and the '21 comeback game with Kennedy Brooks scoring with seconds left.

@@brentmorgan7431 I’ve heard most people say nothing beats the “we want Caleb” game. ‘96 was before my time and ‘01 I was way too young to remember. It’s on my bucket list to go someday before I die.

@@okieclipper5783 If you were too young to remember the '01 game then you should have plenty of years to go see the game. You need to make it a priority to go. You will not be disappointed. Once you go, it will help you understand why this rivalry game is so great. The '21 game "Caleb" game was a great one and one of my favorite ones. But anytime OU wins it is special.

Another unique twist about this rivalry was when Texas graduate Farrah Fawcett subscribed to OU fan Brent Morgan's "Brent's World" magazine circa 1975. LOL....

The Red River Rivalry game is the most important game of the year for me as a former UT student. While I want my Texas Longhorns to win every game, no game matters more to me than that second Saturday in Dallas.

I love this rivalry, OU uses Texas high school players to beat Texas, Texas Darryl Royal Stadium is named after an OU football Player. Mack Brown is a former OU OC. How much better can it get!

Good video, but you missed a fabulous story created by the late great Mike Leach. When Leach was the OU offensive coordinator under Bob Stoops, he created a fake game plan and had a player drop it in the tunnel. A Texas player picked it up and it took a few series of OU possessions before Texas realized they’d been had!

Best part about this rivalry is that the hate goes beyond football! In 1931 Texas Rangers and Oklahoma National Guard had a full standoff over owns a bridge that crosses the Red River. The Oklahoma governor even showed up armed with a revolver. Lol lookup the Red River Bridge war, it gives a whole new meaning to the Red River Shootout
