8:12 - 8:40 The "outgrabe" and stuff is a reference to "Jabberwocky", a nonsense poem in _Through the Looking-Glass_ (1871), the sequel to _Alice's Adventures in Wonderland_ (1865). I was just looking it up yesterday because I remembered the word _vorpal._ Regarding the line "I'm positively mimsy with outgrabe": In the story, Humpty Dumpty explains that the adjective _mimsy_ means "flimsy and miserable", and the verb _outgribing_ is "something between bellowing and whistling, with a kind of sneeze in the middle"; coined from Old English _grike_ or _shrike._ So the jester is pretty much just babbling "I'm flimsy and miserable with shrieked" Regarding the line "you whiffled my wabe": This comes from the lines "Came whiffling through the tulgey wood" and "Did gyre and gimble in the wabe". The actual verb _whiffle_ means in this sense "to travel quickly with an accompanying wind-like sound"; but the nonsense noun _wabe,_ a shortening _way behind,_ means "the grass plot around a sundial" (per _Looking-Glass_ (1871)) or "the side of a hill soaked by rain" (per an 1855 issue of Lewis Carroll's periodical, _Mischmasch_ (1855-1862)).
@nomukun11382 жыл бұрын
Yes, the vorpal sword of D&D (and lots of other games) comes straight from Jabberwocky! It sounds like the video game replaced "outrage" with "outgrabe", ignoring the meaning Lewis Carroll provided. Like you said, outgrabe is a past tense verb. He also said outgribing is difficult to imagine, but if you happen to hear it you shall be quite satisfied. Wabe indeed refers to the plot of grass around a sundial, so named because it extends both a long way behind and a long way before the dial. (Alice commented that it also extends a long way beside, but Humpty Dumpty ignored her, implying that Alice's explanation was a folk etymology unworthy of attention from a serious scholar.)

a soft reminder that Wanda's father is a mafia type of guy who didn't hide the fact that he dislikes Cosmos and Wanda being together and outright threatens Cosmos a little bit, so her being so savage is likely due to being raised by someone that's also savage to people that aren't Wanda. also, even if the issue is systemic, it doesn't change the fact that it's still appropriate for Vicky to be casted as the villain and if we have to be honest, Vicky is probably the most evil and savage out of every potential babysitter that's a part of the systemic problem in fairy odd parents

Something I loved from when I did an LP of this game is the progression in the villain's plot - you get the idea that he's trying to do a spell, but doesn't know how, and gets closer and closer each time. His ultimate plan is "Make a TV show where shadows rule and then turn it into reality." His first attempt experimenting with the channels is a total failure, he just traps Timmy's dad in a dream related to what he was watching. His second attempt is closer, but backwards, shifting Timmy's mom into a nature documentary. Then finally he gets it right, turning the world into the space epic that Vicky's watching, so right spell, wrong channel. Then you stop him just as he's about to do the thing he was planning on. It gives the levels a coherent theme as the game progresses.

A friend of mine actually told me a trick for lucid dreaming, I still need to try it out. When you're dozing off and about to fall asleep, hold your hand up so you can see it, if you can maintain the image/shape of your hand in your imagination then you'll be able to control your dream.

"Timmy's insane in the membraaaaane!" Oh beans, that aged me in a good way hearing that one. Also did the Crimson Chin lose his powers again, but without being turned into just some guy this time?

I would 100% watch a compilation of Penny just getting irrationally (but not unreasonably) angry at things, that mcdonald's rant was amazing

This game was cool, played it often as a kid, though what weirded me out was that Queen Titania looked suspiciously similar to Timmy's principal from the show and absolutely no one seemed to notice or comment on it
