I overnighted in the toys r us parking lot for the Wii U with my dad, expecting what it was like for the Wii. We were the only ones. A cop came through to check on us, completely unaware that the Wii U was coming out, lol. Walked into the Toys R Us in the morning with like 4 other people. It was quiet and uneventful. I was shocked at first, but looking back, it was definitely foreshadowing how it would go for that console.

I bought so many Wii U games recently for super cheap. I also modded my Wii U and dumped my physical copies onto an external hard drive. I’ve soft modded a Wii U, PS Vita, DSi, and 3DS this year. It’s pretty easy if you follow guides or KZbin tutorials. I love breathing new life into old consoles.

Iv been watching Topher's vids and I just recently purchased the "new" 3DS XL in lime green from Dr Mod and I am super hyped to receive it. Topher does amazing content and he is the reason I looked into purchasing one of the systems .I think the Wii or the Wii U might be the next in the lineup for me!! Keep up the amazing work guys:)

I modded my N3DSXL. It's pretty great, especially for GBA, DS and 3DS Roms. I agree with you about playing these games on original hardware. The games run great and It just feels so good!

I STILL fund Wiis at the thrift store for 15 bucks all the time. I have dozens. The U i found for a great price without the gamepad. Had to get one on Ebay, and then replace the battery. Still in the whole thing for under 2 bills, though. Cant wait to mod it now!

12:49 how did you get your wii games to display that way??? And all the other non-Wii U games as well. Does it have to do with the Wii U vc injector? Thats the closest thing i can find to get games on the main menu but your setup is so much better.

I'm not sure how the Wii U would handle Gamecube games that used the GBA Link cable, as well as any Wii titles with Gamecube controller support. Aside from that, this is great!

I'd be curious on how you made it work with a single 2TB drive with EVERYTHING. I modded my wiiu YEARS ago but it's split b/w the drive (wiiu) and sd card (everything else). At the time it seemed near impossible and what was possible required fancy drive partitioning.

I'm lost on what's new here. I have two modded Wii U consoles (both CBHC) that have been packed away for years. What am I missing? Maybe if they'd bothered to go into some detail about the mod itself things would be clearer.

I have a similar setup but I was led to believe that the Wii and Wii U games could only live on the same hard drive if you were launching them from the Wii U menu (that's what I do) and if you wanted to utilize coverflow the Wii stuff had to be on a separate drive, Dr Mod seems to elude to the fact that it can be done from one drive, would he be willing to point me in the direction of the sources he used to achieve this? 🤔

I think the hdd still requires a partition to run anything but wii u titles. Wio u requires a unique format thats locked to your hardware

@@notafraidoftherobots yes, from my experience when U first plug any form of external media into the Wii U, it wants to format the entire drive with it's proprietary format thus making it pointless to create a partition on the drive before hand, I am pretty sure U can't make a partition on the drive afterwards either as a pc won't read the drive after the Wii U formats it, having said that maybe there has been some sort of homebrew development that allows U to create a partition that I am not aware of, Hopefully Dr Mod can enlighten us.

Just to clarify, I myself do have a harddrive connected with all Nintendo systems loaded onto it, including Wii U, Wii and GameCube games BUT I had to Inject all the games into the Wii U format, install them with WUPinstaller and they are all launched from the Wii U menu, I CANNOT access them from the Virtual Wii side 🙄

Look up "Wii U Hacks Guide" and follow the steps of the website guide very slow and carefully. I believe anyone can do it, as long as they're careful, you can do it!

I would HIGHLY caution against purchasing anything from this person. They have not either been able to or willing to answer the simplest question about one of their own products. Nothing technical. Just a simple does it contain 3 specific games before I drop $300. Sketchy.
