I was looking this up half an hour ago whether or not the name relates to the city of Rio de Janeiro (where I happen to live now for about a year). And this notification comes up. Coincidence? There are no coincidences. Great video as always, Sean. Thanks so much.

Love this tune . The reason I heard it got its name was the composer had a mate who was a priest who had worked in south America, and when he heard it he said it sounds like Samba music

I read this was pronounced rye-o, which was Sean Ryan’s nickname. Supposedly, of course. I couldn’t say for certain.
