One of the proudest moments of our life! A country so small but has made so many gigantic stamps on the international stage. Even bobsled and we don't even have snow!😂 As our saying goes: we little but we tallawa!

nah lie, im crying. It was such a moment and I was there for almost all the home games including that last one. There were no seats left in the bleachers, we had to stand and watch the entire 90mins but it was worth it.

Bruce Golding gave a speech to the Jamaican diaspora in Birmingham, UK in 2008. He said that there are two moments in his life that he believes united the whole of Jamaica that was independence in 1962 and Jamaica qualifying for France 98.

I remember that campaign inside out in my early teenage years. It reached a stage in the final round where Jamaica had their backs to the wall when they went for the English born players and players like Walter Boyd and Onandi were dropped. Goal scoring in the final round was a big problem and the team had only scored 1 goal in the final round before their 5th match against El Salvador at the national stadium. After that El Salvador win things got better from there with the arrival of the English players. One thing the video didn't point out is that Jamaica would have qualified in El Salvador the week before they played Mexico at the national stadium, if they were able to maintain that lead and not give up a late equalizer. Great video though

I remember this day like it was yesterday! I decided not to go to this match due to previous experience in one of the home match. I almost passed out in the crush trying to get into bleachers, luckily the police assisted me out of the crowd! Big up the lil Brazilian, Walter Boyd and Lowe could have achieved so much more withis this team, they just lacked disciplin! NEON DEON BURTON, PAUL Hall, Shorty Malcom (S.I.P), Paul Hall, Cargill (S.I.P), so many names....
@tickachemist Жыл бұрын
The biggest thing about this team in qualifying for the WC were not the original three English-based players. Mind you, we probably would not have qualified without Deon Burton's goals. But, think about this: Jamaica did not concede a single goal at home in the entire campaign.
@rnhor4924 Жыл бұрын
Most people were saying if it wasn't for the UK players we wouldn't have qualified, but they came at the latter stage of qualification so every games along with the defeats are a part of qualification.

People may say I'm negative but I can't see our men ever going back to the world cup unless some of the ball whales especially in Kingston leave the coaches to do their jobs in peace. I remember they literally wanted do Simoes job for him, constantly bombarding the coach about who they want to play and plenty garbage.
