I love to see so many people having the same opinion on John Galliano ❤ I believe his work is what we need more in fashion because it has a story. He is one of kind, you can tell what's his work before you even know it was his work. Truly one of kind and I would love him for Chanel but I am afraid that he will get burned out as Chanel is more about profit over anything lately.

I agree that Galliano has transformed the Margiela aesthetic with his own vision. Surely he has more to say there. Why would he take on the pressures of a running a major global brand? Who would even want that for him if they admire him? Galliano is an authentic genius whose creativity ran a ground at Dior but was resurrected at Margiela. There he captures everybody's aesthetic interest in clothes as opposed to just 'style'. That's so rare now.

He has a happy medium where he doesn't have the same pressures as he did when working for Dior/Own Brand. Yes definitely his work is beyond typical ideas around fashion or consuming it pieces. I used to think Galliano felt out of place at Margiela, but the more I see his work I think he's added so much to his legacy. Thank you for watching John!

I don’t think Galliano is commercial enough for Chanel…but if they were to hire him, it would elevate Chanel to a true house of fashion and luxury that has been missing with the past few decades of gimmicks. Maybe!

I agree he isn't as commercial as some of the other designers in consideration, but he would bring back the theatre, the extravagant shows, historical references and models with personality. Thank you for watching Stella!

He ought to stay put. I feel that Chanel should hire a designer with a more ethereal and frothy vision for the house. Someone who can take the overworked house codes and abstract them into a modern, wearable femininity. That for me would be either Sarah Burton or Pier Paolo Piccioli. Whoever they choose will have to deal with the quality control and production issues that diehard Chanel clients are complaining about. Allegedly.

If Galliano does go to Chanel, I think he would be able to deliver Chanel just like how Karl Lagerfeld did. Just like how Karl used to come up with different themes each season. Like the grocery store, space rocket ship, the opera, the doll house, and etc. Since he has aged from his more radical early days, I think would tone it down a bit.
@MarysRoom6 ай бұрын
I agree he would add the spectacle that a Chanel show is all about. I still remember the Spring 2012 collection that converted me to a Chanel fan and it was because it was an underwater theme with Florence and the Machine. I do agree, with age Galliano has matured and would know where to dial it up and tone it down. Thank you for watching Isaac!

It certainly feels like some PR or marketing things have been happening in his favour at a very large scale recently - like they are prepping or testing the waters for some big change involving him. It would be bold of Chanel to take him on, I’m not sure if they would do that. Dressing the biggest names at the Met was very obvious to me too, surely there is a reason! Also loved your newspaper dress, I remember when i was in school I also did a design project researching him.!

Honestly I just have to comment on how absolutely iconic your own newspaper dress is 😍😍😍😍😍 I love hearing how you made your own piece inspired by the Dior dress, it looked like it fit like a glove 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 (much respect for even just that singular garment because I would have no idea where to start 😅😂) I’m having such a hard time these days discerning between fashion designers’/creative directors’/umbrella company owners’, etc moral compasses 🫠🥴 There aren’t many brands or designers who have completely innocent pasts these days, and it’s very important to me to be supporting brands that have high moral values. (It’s the reason why I won’t buy Chanel anymore sadly after I found out about her involvement with WW2 (completely a personal choice), and I’m learning more about Galliano from this video so he’s now on my no buy list too I think 😅🤒🙃).

Haha yeah it was super fun but also a struggle to make😅 I got so into fashion because of Galliano and McQueen, but after JGs remarks and prior McQueen died, but really his remarks ended this style era for me. I totally respect your decision, there's so many brands out there doing interesting work today🙏🙏🙏

Hi Mary, there was article in NYT back 2011 about how new era of conglomerate like LVMHM and Kering do not want to hire a single designer who is a wild showman like John Galliano. This is because of the share holder freaking out every time Galliano does something weird and strange. John is labeled as a troublemaker. What management wants is easy to handle creative individual to lead a team who are business focused. Karl had both the quality of business savvy and designer chops.. John is an artist and storyteller with no business experience. cheer
