I have read the novel. Didn't know that there was any movie on it. Its seems a bit risky to watch this movie now because I have made my own picture of it, in my mind. I read the novella and liked it a lot, the way Changez tells his story through that resturant scene is unique but this is not really what a muslim should be like, loving a woman without marriage. Also him telling that Afghanistan would be the brother country of Pakistan. Well that is very nice said but unfortunally definitly not the case, both countrys fight each other through economic and strategic actions since decades. I wish it would be different.

thy can have long relationships, that's fine BUT as long as there married, and the women becomes a revert. if not then it is considered Haram. I realize that not all follow it that way, and im sure there are many muslim men that date non muslim women like you said, but if people are gonna make a movie about a committed faithful and your everyday Muslim man, they should've done it with more accuracy, because a committed faithful muslim man would not blatantly do something haram.
@abeerarif6577 жыл бұрын
The thing is, he's not a committed faithful Muslim man. The writer makes that abundantly clear (I haven't watched the movie, but I've read the book). He's a not-very-religious ambitious man who joins Princeton at 18, works for an American finance firm and drinks on a daily basis. Hamid addressed this in one of his articles for The Guardian: 'When he gets his dream job at a high-paying valuation firm in New York, he exclaims, "Thank you, God!" That's it. Other than that exclamation (a common figure of speech), there's no real evidence that Changez is religious.' In the book, when an American offers him a drink and mentions that he knew a Pakistani who never drank, Changez says, "I do, sir."
@maazkalim3 жыл бұрын
“Harām” by whose standards: Aren't there like 200+ cultures identifying themselves under the oh-so-monotheistic banner of Islām? How are you to judge the piety of any fellow "Ms"? Doesn't it tantamount to _Takfīrī_ - in any case? Did your nearest, beloved clergyMAN tasked you to it?

this looks amazing but um.. one little issue, I am muslim and this looks like itll be great but the whole romance aspect of it with Kate Hudson is a little unrealistic seeing as that a typical muslim man in the real world does not have sexual relations with a women he meets, specifically a non muslim women, even if she was muslim, they would have to get married first or at least engaged to have sex, then it wouldnt be haram (forbidden, wrong, a sin) a little bit of ignorance on the writers part.
