I remember when this movie was in the theaters. I was 9 at the time. My dad took me to see the movie. I don't really remember when I saw it in the theaters, however I rediscovered it a few weeks ago and watched it again. It's a fantastic film. I found it to be very funny and entertaining. It's a reminder of a better time in our lives a.k.a pre 9/11.

I have never ever understood what Billy Crystal's character meant by "60 Pounds! That's a Backstreet Boy!". It's very confusing. Is he saying that the Backstreet Boys are (or were, at the time of this movie) very thin? It's obnoxious because I don't understand it. Also, none of the members of BSB were ever that thin, other than probably as tweens.

Yes, it was a joke about how skinny the Backstreet Boys were. But it wasn’t picking on Backstreet Boys specifically so much as boy band members in general. Back then boy bands were a cultural phenomenon and there was a lot of masculine disdain towards them because many people considered them “sissy boys.” Keep in mind this movie is over 20 years old. Things were different back then. Machismo guys had long been a staple in mainstream entertainment. The pretty boy thing wasn’t a concept many guys respected yet. So the joke was funny because it was relevant to the times.
