I live in Egypt and theres no "houses" here. There are tall apartment buildings. Commonly family buildings where parents and their married children all get an apartment. Again, no houses like she said her friends have. Also this is an Islamic country and men can't just go up to a woman's flat like in the West or Europe.

I too lived in Egypt for years .There are villas for the rich in Cairo.And Egyptian urban middle class and elite are not conservative. Women have freedom of movement and they mix freely with men. Of course,things are different in the villages.

I asked myself same questions. I think i heard daughter goes to mother. He ran out of petrol (deliberate ?) They cut him loose ... after that who cares ?
