WoW player here myself. I can't even imagine how his parents felt losing their son. I am a roleplayer as well and while I don't know what having Duchennes is like. I can relate to Mats finding friends in the game. Some of the people I talk to regularly are people I met in game. The connections and friendships you forge in game are very real. Mats wanted to matter, and despite his own challenges he helped others by being there for them as someone to talk to. Even now I think Mats is still helping people by showing us what you can accomplish just by listening to others.

Mats and everyone involved, from parents to friends and producers, deserve an Oscar for this masterpiece. It is of such importance in the digital era, and there is simply nothing that explains in simple terms why gaming is so important for many-disabled or not. This is one of the most important movies in terms of fighting stigma, ever! Rest in peace, Mats. 💖 What you have done for so many will be written in time, forever!

Hello. I happened to watch a film about your son's life on the internet, and it made me want to cry. I mean, I was born in a situation where both my parents had mental illness (it’s a long story), and I’ve always wondered about the meaning of life and searched for others who have been through similar things. I can understand and feel the emotions in Matt’s blog because I see myself in many of those moments. I don’t really know what to say; it’s just overwhelming. I just tried searching for his Facebook profile and found you. I just wanted you to know that you have a remarkable son-few people born in such a situation are so profound and attentive to the world. Wishing you a good day.

The way you captured everything was absolutely wonderful. I play on the same server he did, but never met him. But when you have community on a server, it feels like it happened in your own little town-- virtual town. Seeing people gather at the memorial, in game- seeing the way his life was represented, is something so many roleplayers can connect with. I saw myself in Ibelin, and he made me want to become a better version of myself. May he rest in peace.

I love that they made the choice to solely cast disabled voice actors for the film’s avatars, to honor and include more people like Ibelin! That is such a powerful and inclusive choice! I’ve been hearing so much about this film and I can’t wait to see it now after knowing so much background!!!

It's the most moving story I have ever seen . Mats was not only a beautiful soul, but he cared so much about his friends and the struggles they had . When someone goes through this much pain and sorrow, they don't want to wish it on anyone, especially their friends . I learned a lot from this film and how to be a better person. Thank you mats

Absolutely beautiful film. It's a movie about grieving but also of friendships, of finding a way to live as fully as you can, of making a difference in other people's lives.

humans are real, inside every story. the moment you hear words about anyone "not being aware" of something because of a disability, you know you should respect everyone involved with... silence, doesnt matter how long is your conventional minute :)

If this doesn't win several awards, the Oscars should just disband.
