This is an awesome story. I love that they took over the Confederate ship and made it a Union ship. Seriously, these are the types of people they should have statues all over the south for.

It would be especially fitting for his statue to be placed on the pedestal of a removed Confederate statue, 'stealing' its spot like he stole their ship.

Seriously! I'd go around St Louis and get signatures and find others to get more signatures, just to spite all the Confederate flag waving, cross burning Trumpanzee neighbors in my East Central Missouri Podunk shithole where black people only stop long enough to get gas.

This Story of Captain Smalls is so great; And it needs to be made into a movie! I love that he rescued his family and the other 15 families and that he purchased the house where he was enslaved. And that He went onto be in the Senate! Wow.what a story!
