In the EV world at the moment, everything is about 0-60 time, 200+ mile range. Stuff that sells to enthusiast EV and EV evangelicals. But it is little vehicles like the Zoe that will make the big difference at reducing fuel usage. The little car that gets you from home to work, work to the store, home to school and recreation - and doesn't always ferry the extra 1500 pound battery back that weighs the vehicle down and consumes kWs to move around whether you use it or not.
@tonys94133 жыл бұрын
Absolutely right! Juvenile obsession with 0-60 (not the more useful 30-70) and the 200+ mile range.

Is that the same reason that a much bigger Model 3 SR+ uses less energy than a Zoe ?
@thankyouforyourcompliance73863 жыл бұрын
The Zoe is an inexpensive and reliable car. It is an Urban car but you can also do longer trips with it especially if you have the 50DC or 43AC charging version.
@stevehill84113 жыл бұрын
Um... the Zoe has a 250 mile range! And 0-60 isn't very good, but the hot hatch category is massively popular in Europe, so the first manufacturer to make an EV hot hatch will have a hit on their hands
@MrTaliz3 жыл бұрын
The Zoe from 2019 and up actually has DC charging as an option, and supports up to 50kw(which I guess is what she used on her trip, otherwise it'd never reach 80% in an hour...) I rented one for a month last year, I liked it(and I used to own a Model 3 Performance, now an ID4...). It's small, nimble and cheap so you can just through it around. 👍
@thankyouforyourcompliance73863 жыл бұрын
Well, there was a facelift in 2019 that had still just 22kW AC Charging and 41kwh battery. The one with DC is the ZE 50 with 50kwh. There is also one older version with 43kW AC Charging.
@tren1333 жыл бұрын
@@thankyouforyourcompliance7386 Still it's nice that in Europe most people can do 22kw charging right at home. Here in the US, most home L2 chargers are in the 6 to 10 kw range, and even the new Ford Lightning with its massive battery only goes up to 19 kw home L2 charging, and will require an extremely high powered special home EVSE to reach that level.

So it does give a warning in EVs that can't maintain their own max speed and happen to go over the max rated speed. I want to see (in a lab not on my own roads) what over speed to an electric motor can do and how far the motors can actually safely go before they straight up explode. There should be a single function that auto brakes hard to keep the car from going into the red THAT far but yeah first it's a warning. 9:30 I wonder if it will auto brake after a certain point or if the motor will just shatter into a trillion pieces. (Not recommended to test it and yes I have a destructive mindset i like seeing the limit of certificate materials and seeing how to make them stronger but yeah don't over do it on the Zoe)
