Can you put rx7 rotor housings onto the rx8 irons? Then custom make a exhaust manifold to the five exhaust ports. You could even have semi pp housings to increase inlet flow as well. Would that make the best flowing motor for a turbo upgrade?

Great video ;) How much torque did you use in the torque rench at the end to tighten the bolts? Also related to the rx7 fd oil pressure regulator, does it need customization to fit the renesis 13b? and i guess it has nothing to do with the OMP and the pressure for spraying the rotors with oil... or does it?

Opinion on putting a PP exhaust on the housings? Or using GSLSE housings? Awesome video and thank you for all the details!
@rx7specialties2037 жыл бұрын
We along with many others have used the SE housings in combination with the factory exhaust ports. Sadly, on an aspirated application not much was noticed, however when turbo charging there are significant gains. Ideally, using just the peripheral exhaust would be best.

Im not sure if you answered this before but for the diy guy. I just opened my motor. It looks great over all. What in wondering is. What has to be done to the iron/flat surfaces. And what had to be done to the housings. Im assume when u put it back together u dont want it shiny. What shoukd i use just a very light sand paper or Scotch-Brite pad...ect. Basically what im asking is what has to be done to prep the parts before Assembly.

Hey man i noticed you didn't use any vaseline or lubricant on the housings of the rotor, if you didn't it's much suggested so it doesn't start up dry for the first time and messes with the corner and apex seals, even if you put a bit on the seals it's better to put vaseline all around the dorito and housings, it won't harm the engine at all and the excess vaseline will burn off

Do you know if anyone has tried electroless nickle boron plated on roots or housings? Thanks for a great channel
@rx7specialties2035 жыл бұрын
Not sure why you'd apply that to rotors and although products like this can be engineered to be applied to the rotor housing, machining it off accurately after requires a diamond wheel and a CNC ID grinder. Very pricey process.
@robertanderson86135 жыл бұрын
@@rx7specialties203 I've been looking at coating the nickle boron is self lubricating and gets harder around 70 Rockwell it machines well but if you use the electroless process you can control thickness to a high degree. I know nikasil is simaler and would only respond to diamond hones there are also some coatings at techline that might be good on rotors they use it a lot on diesel piston tops and it's applied with an airbrush. I'm with you though if I had my own milling machine you could do like the do with motorcycle bores they remove any plating weld and gouged etc. Do a cleanup boring the they no basil the bore or there are so many other products now I'd like to try DFM is what I think they call it. Check it out maybe it will be something good for rotory thanks for the great channel. Rob

@lewisbiggs59777 жыл бұрын
Do you mean the brand or it's purpose? Brand doesn't really matter as long as it's good assembly lube.
@lewisbiggs59777 жыл бұрын
I guess I'll add in case you don't know. It's assembly lube, cause when you start a brand new engine it can take a second or two for the oil from the pan to get to the components that need it, so you use a thick oil-like lube that sticks to the components and provides the essential lubrication they need until the oil gets there, otherwise you'd destroy your brand new engine components!
