Except for the Decoy and the Mega Bomb Glove, the Decoy is completely busted in RaC 2.

Bomb and decoy are still strong though. But in general you're right, Megacorp was supposed to be much larger and more powerful than Gadgetron

I do agree with you that the idea with the R&C1 weapons was to show how Megacorp are so much bigger and more powerful than Gadgetron, but I think for the developers it was also to solidify that the game is taking a big step up from the first, they were all about showcasing their cool satisfying new weapons and systems over the first. I also like to think it was bought about due to the Bogon Galaxy being just flat out way more dangerous and deadly than Solana, and then in R&C:UYA when you return the Solana Megacorp weapons are still the best, and I feel Gadgetron are just stepping up their game from what they learned the hard way in Bogon, plus the only non-robot enemies that are actually a real threat in UYA are the Tyhrranoids, which kinda confims to me that Bogon is just more dangerous by default

The bouncer in Ratchet and Clank 2016 was a pre-order bonus only, I was always afraid of Ratchet and Clank being on new consoles because I had a nasty feeling weapons would be implemented as DLC.

Honestly, the returning weapons for R&C 3 being so good helps to reinforce the idea that Megacorp is just absolutely on another level compared to Gadgetron, how even a small handful of weapons smuggled to another galaxy can compete with the best of the best. But then you remember that when Gadgetron WANTS to make an all powerful weapon, their R.Y.N.O. does a lot better than Megacorp's Zodiac. Which is why, despite their ubiquity in the Bogon Galaxy, Megacorp's never really been able to spread out beyond the one galaxy, unlike Gadgetron.

I love that it actually makes sense canonically that strafing and other combat QOL changes didn't come until later in the series because ratchet gets better at fighting over time with years of experience kicking intergalactic alien ass (not just that the developer's learned how to make the combat smoother over time which is the irl reason)

Glad to find interesting and different content about one of my favourite game series here. I've always thought the reason for the inclusion of GC weapons in UYA (story-wise) was Mr. Fizzwidget wanting to help Ratchet through Slim Cognito in gratitude for saving him and the Bogon Galaxy, because I don't see any other explanation to Slim having those Megacorp weapons when he had to leave everything behind (even his ship-shack) when he had to run from Bogon. On the other hand, in UYA we can see that Solana and Bogon galaxies are more connected than it can be derived from the main stories, thanks to the descrption of weapons like the Shock Blaster, which says it was improved from the Blitz gun design.

Going Commando is a great game, but it's in my opinion the worst of the best 4, which are the original 4 games in the series, it has the worst story with the least memorable new characters, it has worse pacing both in story and gameplay and even the planet/levels are not as memorable and cool looking.

I think locked and loaded is the best out of the 4 (number 2 where im from) 1s story is awesome and its beautiful+weapon design was awesome, but the controls and gameplay is more outdated. 2 imo has the perfect balance of new and interesting additions with the arenas, leveling system, armour, style, had interesting story parts. 3 is 3rd best imo, gameplay is definitely better than 1 and the leveling system is cool going up to 5 then more after you finish. But idk, I find this game the least replayable, the quark jokes were drawn out a bit much. The whole atmosphere felt sort of smoothed over, leaves me wanting to play the other games more. (It's hard to put into words but still love the game) Number 4 is definitely the worst imo. The least amount of creativity but still a solid game, interesting story. The least replayable imo, i loved it when it came out with the multiplayer, but the levels and games feel way more cut and pasted in comparison to the others. Plus having every weapon go to level 100 was meaningless to me, it turned into more of a slog for me.
