I built a huge base and even tamed a T Rex prepatch, and let me tell you, it was rough. Not only did it look terrible, but there were also several places where you could fall through the world! I haven't tried the update verison yet, but it looks good. I'm glad they gave it to us for free for the people who already owned the game!

@@Quip765 It's not entirely the hardware. As someone who codes, they really don't teach good resource management or optimization skills these days. Remember that the PS3 and 360 had a mere fraction of the hardware specifications of the switch, and there have been sub-optimal eighth-generation title ports to the switch. That speaks volumes towards proving my point.

Post Pandemic theater patches! I was just thinking about this this, this morning! I’m excited! I hope developers are finding their way back into their chairs to _take pride_ in their work, _once more!_ Bless you for this essential _All Patched Up_ series! My hopes are that the Wolfenstein games _(Youngblood especially)_ gets its rougher edges _sanded down_ without any compromise to its animations and the games _incredible_ pyrotechnics, which are the best part of playing those games! The section just outside of the metro area in Little Berlin, the Canal Outside of Brother 3, the Mechanic’s area and underground tower with the mote inside Brother 2 and the Server Room at the top of Brother 1, these are the primary (and honestly _only)_ offenders when it comes to Youngblood’s _aggressive_ dynamic resolution smoothing on Switch, yikes! Great Stuff as always! When it comes to MK11, it could just use a full _relaunch._

Don´t buy it on Switch. All this guys here don´t realy played it log time, this game have some bugs. Hardest one it didn`t save you options, every game start 10 minutes to cange all options again. Better dropp your money out of the window, than you can see it fly in 3D.

If you play single player you can change all settings including how much damage dinosaurs do, you also can have commands and even creative mode if that helps.

I'm a pc player with over 2k hours and i bought the game on switch and i have to say it's realy impressive what they did, the game realy does look great in portable mod and run fairly well.

Personally, I don't care at all about lighting, shadows or the water... as long as it isn't an unplayable blurry mess with low framerate I'm happy.. If I could turn off all of it in favor for better framerate at native then I would.. The only reason I didn't demand a refund when the game was released was in hope for a patch later down the line.

@@SwitchUpYt Nice, I just downloaded and tested the update myself. While the game still looks like crap, it is at least not a complete blurry mess any longer, and turning off the lighting and bloom DOES remove the majority of the remaining blur.. Any remaining slight blurriness is most likely due to low quality meshes and textures, and that's only to be expected as getting it to run on the Switch was more or less a miracle in the first place ^^ As for the FPS, it's hard to tell at a glance if there's a difference or not with the settings off, but you usually get a few extra FPS on other platforms by turning it off so I would expect that there are likely some small improvements. And with the addition of the DLCs I'm looking forward to playing on my favorite map (Scorced Earth) :)

I have a fear of deep water and I'm pretty scared of sharks😅. First time I played ark I was stood near some deep water and I looked down to see the face of a meg just coming straight up towards me and OH MY GOD I jumped I was so panicked because I wasn't aware there were sharks. Scariest gaming moment so far 😅😂

I don't remember the exact number but I remember digital foundry mentioning that the original version of ark was at sub 240p. So to see this game running at native resolution is awesome.

Ark upscales to native, its not actually internaly hitting 1080 or even 720p, it bounces around 720 to 540p docked, and 540p and lower in hand-held

I think the original release was using a dynamic resolution between 20p - 30p if I remember correctly.

This is amazing. I really thought this was D.O.A. on Switch and your initial review confirmed it. Is this game less punishing than Green Hell, because I do like survival games, but GH was just a liiiiiitle too much when I was dead like 5 times within the first couple hours.

The game can be hard to learn early on but once it click it's amazing, this is more a sand box than a pure survival and there is a lot of option to tweak to make it harder or easier.

There is a video, showing the fps of this version, and some dips go down to 20. Did you notice this alot, or is it still pretty playable, are these dips not soo often, does it turn into a slide show with lots of action?

There are definitely some dips, it's actually in this video if you look at the frame rate during dense areas. It's why they should reduce the resolution or use some ai upscaling. Mark

Love the updates but I already wear reading glasses and still can't read the tiny text on switch version. Looked in settings and did not find an option for it and don't want to constantly use the Zoom in. Did I miss something? Anyone know how to enlarge font/hud for the Switch version?

It's really nice, though there are still some really annoying issues. For example, ceature AI runs on a much lower tickrate, resulting in them sometimes just freezing up for multiple seconds when their followed target changes directions. This is very demotivating as you constantly have to stop to wait for them to catch up (in addition to the usual pathfinding issues) and may be a problem in fights. Or that annoying settings bug which resets some settings of the game when starting up. But most of all, I'm really bummed people get DLC included for the same amount I paid and they want me to shell out another 30€ Real scummy move Wildcard..

Very nice, definately one of the best sandbox games, even up there with Minecraft for some players. Also GTA Trilogy is now fun to play, now GTA3 triggers the nostalgia on Switch 100% while looking a whole better.
