As far as gear goes you will need 1.A detector, I suggest to stay in the lower price range to start, Simplex, Mine Lab Vanquish series etc. Figure out if you like the hobby before investing big money. 2. A good solid shovel 3. A pinpointer I paid 30.00 for my first pinpointer, GT series off Amazon but you can get really good ones for 100-200.00. 4. Some kind of finds pouch or backpack. 5. Find out all local rules and regulations for your area 6. Places to detect. Your yard, ask neighbors, farmers. This is just basic stuff you will need, hope you get into it and good luck if you do!
