Thank you for this! Both of these early and amazing television shows still hold a very lifelong impression for me, as today, I continue to view all of the Twilight Zone, One Step Beyond and to include The Outer Limits shows. This, in my 68th year of breathing in and out. John Newland was the pinnacle of ingenuity, presentation, and I believe he was the template for Rod Serling and the amazing attraction that writers of the day felt from his presence. The circle from the embrace includes so many of the writers, the talent, the unique stories we all enjoyed then, and continue to embrace now in 2020.

@MG Butterfield We are the fortunate ones. In that moment when - there was nothing better for us to do- we were transfixed by an amazing congruence of writing, acting talent and open mindedness, that we could not help but be open to an indelible impression, such as we were blessed to embrace. I love that time in my life. Because of it, I accomplished so much more. Meager beginnings grow int o a magnificent flower, when given starlight and nutrient.

What a nice surprise today when I saw Andrew Bentley returning to my life; I saw this episode around 1964, when I was 12, and got a big fright when the ghost appeared in front of he vault door. Years passed by and upon finishing college my dad presented me with a brand new T1 series Bentley that immediately I named Andrew and he has been by my side since then so today I ordered some take-away food, sat in the rear bench and we both enjoyed the show. Thank you for posting it. It made my day.

Love that you named your Bentley "Andrew"! I read the story when I was a pre-teen, maybe in 1960. The descriptions, the mystery, and the gradual revelation of the silent terror was all my 8 year old imagination needed! Now, in 2025 I'm a grandma who enjoys a spooky radio story or film.... I can't wait to gift my grandchildren with a few hardbound story collections - once their parents give the OK, of course - Happy New Year to you. 🎆

A film typical. of many made during the 1950s. Dark, creepy music, cellars, an organ and lots of cobwebs. I played this on an iPlayer and had the soundtrack playing on 3 Homepods placed in different rooms , in my house; so that I listened as I moved about. Fortunately, the film finished before I went to bed. I live alone......................................👽

What is so great about these old-fashioned horror flicks is they weren't actually frightening, but were a vehicle for great music and inspiring over-acting. Nowadays horror films are often not just frightening but full of really disturbing images thanks to computers - with none of this stylish delivery.

We never watched TWILIGHT ZONE when I was a kid; as a result, John Newland, not Rod Serling, is the Host of Terror to me. (Boris Karloff, on THRILLER, was too jovial, even at his scariest, to be frightening, and OUTER LIMITS' Control Voice was terrifying but bodiless. ) Many ONE STEP BEYOND episodes stayed with me, but the one that had me completely on edge way back when was TONIGHT AT 12:17; we lived near a small airport at the time and as I tried to sleep after the show, I heard planes flying over and wondered if I was the only one who heard them. Sheesh. To this day when a plane flies over I am immediately reminded of that episode. This THRILLER episode was the scariest thing I saw on TV as a kid; watching it now, I realize there are better episodes, but it sure scared me way back then. When the first pictures from ALIEN began appearing in STARLOG magazine -- just a closeup of the eyeless, toothy "business end" of the monster's head -- I immediately flashed back to the eyeless maw of The Familiar!

Have seen some these films. Now realise several things about them Firstly they were made with the intention of propaganda that was in favour of- Press.Police. Courts. Lawyers.and so on. The film industry needed to keep in league with govts. Rarely if ever is there any indication of what we found going on in that world. If Police are ever depicted as doing wrong itrs only one or two. The'Judges' depicted are usualy picked to look like granpa' Its a question of portraying stereo types. This was first pointed out to me by TV writer in UK. The idea is to make the public feel 'comfortable' Althougfh all these films are fiction theres no doubt about that the publics brains convert a lot of what they see into thoughts about everyday life. How do we know this. We were involved with over 200 people in London Theater and BBC TV. But when victims came to us for help we walked Cent London with these victims looking for help. We got threatened and abused and that incl HM Courts. The BBC told us to hide the evidence abroad. Among the worst culprits we found were the UK Press and media. We are strongly not in favour of sitting watching fiction when all over UK theres deception being practiced. This sitruation resembles that of Europe 1933. The drug being Art.Sport. Drama. If we disclose any more the text will be deatroyed. So does anyone know where we can find a film depicting skinny women with curly hair and dead animal drapes..Night Clubs. Diners. Fire Escapes. Wharehouses with boxes in. Reporters. Headlines. Smoking. Drinking. Dinner Suits. Office desks with intercomes..Hotels. No one does any work. Car crashes.Meanwhile in US the rivers and lakes were polluted and people were struggling to survive. Actresses had million dollar wardrobes. We 'love' actors dont you.Wheres God? Oour experiuence of traipsing Cent London for 12 yrs accompanied by victims proved to us that the Police. Hm Courts. HM Bar coiuncil and otrhers are not what the public seem to think. Thats why we had to take on board bodyguards. This week ak us what is going on at Old Bailey. All [protected by the Press Rings. Which are seen on here as OK.

American efforts to match the old British films never did quite manage it, the old British films were played out by the actors creating the film, characters dominate films, whereas looking at today, we see all these silly special effects dominate, that have nothing special about them, they just make each film corny unbelievable with dead wood acting. Just not the same, never has been, never will be.
