Arkansas made me laugh. In the U.S. we do say "R Can Saw". However, in 5th grade I recall a lesson about all the states and a very Southern accented boy (I live in Tennessee) saying "Ar- Kansas". I suppose that is probably when I learned how to spell Arkansas. I have never forgotten how funny it sounded to my 5th grade self.

I live in Alaska and have made Fireweed jelly. You boil the flowers in water then use that to make your jelly. Fireweed blooms from the bottom up then goes to a fluffy pale pink/white seed. There is a saying “ when fireweed turns to cotton, summer will soon be forgotten “! Although absolutely beautiful in full bloom, we freak out a bit that our short summer is coming to an end.
