Longstory short, originally Dragonslayer magic would force a human to undergo dragonification where they lose their humanity and fully transforms into a Dragon. The bad thing about this is they become wild and legitimately a force of nature with nothing to hold them back, so Igneel and the other dragons implanted themselves into Natsu and the other Dragonslayers as a means of creating anti-bodies that would prevent them from undergoing dragonification. 2nd Gen Slayers like Laxus doesn't undergo this phenomena tho cause their power comes from an artificial source like the dragon lacrima.

The Edolas arc foreshadows what END is 👀 but it’s said so unseriously and stupid that no one would pick it as anything related to being canon to the story + the reason natsu and gajeel couldn’t get out of the guild during laxus arc is in this episode, love how a lot of things get tied up after all these episodes in this arc even though it’s not mentioned it’s all linked up until you go back and realise

Yeah...that’s not the reason. Only dragon slaying magic can work on dragons as was directly shown in GMG multiple times. It doesn’t just apply to offensive magic. Also, Mashima said that the Edolas thing wasn’t actually foreshadowing. He forgot he even did that.

@@worldwideknowledge9631 All the Tartaros demons use curse power, but Acnologia isn’t afraid of any of them. Just because he isn’t immune to them doesn’t mean he isn’t stronger. Acnologia never mentions or tries to get the book of END for the rest of the series even though he knows it’s out there, and that’s because he literally doesn’t care at all. Mard Geer was wrong.

@@xenon3551 it is just my opinion, I see it boring and unepic. The fact that dragons weren't hiding somewhere and planing something is unimpressive, especially considering that they were in humans, which is also weird, has no explanations and doesn't make sense even with their own story about waiting the time when the world have more ethernano (this is also stupid, because in the world with more ethernano, that they wanted to use to fight Acnologia, Acno himself is supposed to be stronger too). They wanted to prevent dragonification of slayers, but later in Dragon Cry Natsu (you know what). They wanted to save themself after Acno destroyed them, but now we can see literally dead Igneel on par with Acno. FT got really stupid and boring in Tartaros and after it, but these two twist I consider the most bs (this one and END). PS. I don't say it doesn't have good stuff, I still love FT, but Mashima clearly has stopped caring about anything after Tartaros. Most of good and hype moments were just washed away

@@Poooof i wouldnt say hiro doesnt care when he properly hinted that those 2 things were gonna happen way early on the series plus expanding more of it in 100yq,on the dragon cry movie that was another dragon that had nothing to do with the plans wich was to send the Dragon Slayers with their foster parents sealed inside them to a period of time that is rich in Ethernano so that their souls, which were maimed by Acnologia, could properly heal.

How not to cry and collapse from emotion when seeing and hearing Natsu say Dad! to Igneel while she sheds those tears looking at him with pride and nostalgia, from the 1st chapter I get a flashback of a boy with pink hair next to a smiling blue cat looking for his father, a fire dragon 😭 and I know that Lucy thought of it 💘he Just knowing that I was always inside him fills me with so much emotion, Hiro Mashima I love you, thank you for giving Fairy Tail an anime that I will always carry in my heart. 😭☝️🧚‍♀️
