For Physiological Needs, it actually has the same problem as the “draw 2 cards” part. The card doesn’t ask you to have max mana crystals, but that your mana crystals are full, and as the card cost 1 mana this only happens if you can discount the card to 0 mana.

Well, Esteem Needs is even more difficult, since it is itself a card played from hand, therefore it is impossible for the hand to be full while it is being cast. Each step certainly has issues. Interesting concept, but probably unsalvageable.

@@icecontrol2571 You didn't play anyfin can happen in the deck, that was a separate deck that was more like a combo deck, and the 1/1 murlocs was a really nice benefit with cards like murloc warleader, but where you are right are that back the 1 mana 1/3 murloc could see play, nowadays a 1 mana 1/3 has to have really strong upsides.

Estem needs actually have 2 major flaws in its technical design 1, You can't add the new card in your hand is full (pointed out in the video) 2, If you play that card, then your hand will almost never be full when it's effect is calculated unless you play specific cards like gadgetzan auctioneer

I do wanna say on physiological needs, I do really like how it plays amazingly into druids class identity. Ramping to maximum mana, druid has a healing theme and not only that but this card has natural synergy with the tree of life that's 9 mana, token druid shows us how to fill the board,then filling hand, druid has massive draw effects, see overflow and ultimate infestation so as badly balanced as it is, to me it's very in flavour design

Someone on the post for Draw commented that it should be phrased “At the end of your turn, draw 2 cards.” Otherwise, any random spell effects (like Yogg’s Box, or Yogg itself) could end your turn prematurely by casting Draw, which feels pretty bad in my opinion.

Classless act for 4 mana would be insane though. Deal 1 to anything, deal 2 to the enemy hero, gain 3 attack and 1 armor + dagger (druid+rogue+demon hunter), draw a card (warrior+warlock), restore 2 health, summon a 1/1 Silver Hand and a random totem sounds like an insane tempo swing If the opponent doesn't have taunt, you can simplify it to 4 mana: Deal 6 damage to the enemy hero, draw a card and summon two 0 cost minions, and it would would probably be a good card, even neglecting some of the effects. I think if we try to assimilate that to other cards to estimate the real cost it would be something like that (trying to pick up the cheapest cards from classes) ~Renew on self (priest + warrior + druid armor + warlock) Arcane shot face (hunter) whatever 1 mana minion summoning a random 0 drop (shaman + paladin) ~twin slice (druide attack + rogue + dh) (could have been pounce) So yeah around 3~5 mana worth of rather good cheap cards, with no extra tax on mana

Ultimately the only part about the whole thing that means it should be 5 mana, is the drawing a card from warlock really. Warlock hero power is the only one of the group thats worth around 1 mana, rather than the 0.5 that all the others are worth.

Thinking of it as a 4 mana draw a card, equip a 3 damage weapon this turn that deals one damage next turn, ping something, heal a friendly minion that value traded this turn, summon a 1/1 and a 0/2 or a second 1/1. It sounds pretty good for sure but at 5 or 6 mana, i don't know if it would be playable. Its like a flame juggler (stats and ping) + a fire war axe (weapon) combo + some minor additional affects.

I think the problem with Aranna is also that your opponent may never end up drawing the changed card which is weird and makes the cards really specific in terms of when it's actually useful. Your opponent may have even already drawn the card you wanted to turn into a wraith when you play Aranna, which is another situation when this card barely does anything.

Also if she would be prevalent in the meta its quite easy to build around, just have your highest cost minion not be your combo piece (yeah go cry me a river all you Daddy D Fanboys) If its Kel, Kael, Maly or whomever just add a Stonborn general and you're safe from Aranna. Even Denathrius gets a 50% or with 2 Generals even a 66% chance to dodge the effect. Lower the stats to 5/5 as suggested and you enemy now just played a sub-par minion losing valuable tempo giving you time to get your combo off. And if she makes it to wild ... lets go, The Darkness becomes a 4 Mana 20/20 if you build correctly... Tech-Cards can never be overpowered. Because if they are, you know they are Coming, which means you can just avoid the Tech and be happy your Opponent is playing a Trash minion. THE ONLY Problem besides the statline is that Tech-Cards shouldn't be Class specifics. Tech needs to accesable to all classes to avoid very one sided Metas. Otherwise if a Combo-Meta forms and Aranna is the Answer its gonna be 50% Demonhunter 50% whatever combo is Strong in Ranked

I think for the Needs line I think it means if it's full at the time of casting not after casting, so if you have 10 cards in hand and cast it you get self-actualization, but if you have 9 or less at the time of casting you get the card draw.

I think Esteem Needs has another issue - it can never go off because the already in "hand is already full" implies it checks before the draw 2 effect, but you can never have a full hand at that point because you've just played Esteem Needs. Just removing the "already" fixes that issue - the same thing applies to a lesser extent to previous steps too.

I think the Physiological Needs legendary line is missing the word "instead" from each step. So your issue with Esteem Needs sounds off-base: it wouldn't draw 2, then trigger the full hand, then burn the card. If you're casting this with a full hand (think: Anetheron), instead add self-actualization to your hand. Which, since you spent Esteem Needs, there is now room for. I love the flavor of the card, I must admit. It's actually flawless: It solves one of your needs. But if your need is already fully met, you try to solve the next need, which is the priority order for survival. It's beautiful storytelling for sure.

I personally think you undervalued classless act's effect. If it was to cost 4 mana as you proposed then you would get in total for 4 mana 3 armor, a 1/2 dagger, a 1 damage ping, draw a card (assuming priest heals face for free), a 1/1 minion, +2 attack for your hero, 2 damage to the enemy face, and a random totem. If you just went face with that and ignored all of it's potential flexibility you would deal 6 to face, gain 3 armor, draw a card and summon two token minions. I think at 5 mana the card would be balanced potentially but at 4 mana it would be very strong.

Actually i don’t find Psychological needs difficult since it’s a win condition (you don’t have to play everything on the same turn and win) but yes the wordings on the cards should be changed to be more reasonable. 1) play at 10 mana (if it is change to having max mana crystal) 2) play reno and then play it so you’ll be at full health. 3) whelps or any card that can flood your board easily. 4) play kalegos and draw all your spell till max hand then you play the last one. If you have no cards in deck you can pair it with either Elise or the Dragon that put cards in your deck. 5) Win.

Maybe make aranna an outcast card with the text Outcast: transform the right or left (depending on where you cast aranna) most minion in your opponents hand into a wraith with its stats and cost. It wouldn't obviously not show you which position you actually effected because of spells n stuff

That's not quite true, since you need to have a minion on board to transform. If you think paladin hero power into using the card for example, that is a 7 mana still, or if you were to use it on a 1 mana minion, that would require using 2 cards as a downside, as well as costing 6 mana. It might still be too strong, but its definitely not a 5 mana 7/14 no downside

A little tidbit about Aranna: Ramp Druids (the deck this is obviously targeting) runs more high-cost cards than just Denathrius. Sure, their main win condition is Denathrius, but they also have Naga Giants and Onyxia, which could take the bullet on Denathrius's behalf.

Interesting to me how Trump did not dock a design point off of Draw, in relation to the card art and name. The flavour in English makes sense, "drawing" your bow and ending your turn in preparation for next turn. The word "draw" however, does not translate to other languages. In Mandarin Chinese for example, the act of "drawing" a card is 抽 (chou1), while "drawing" a bow is 拉 (la1).

The problem with Classless Act on 4 mana is it's almost strictly better Fireball. Hunter and Mage hero power, plus the Rogue weapon, the +1 attack from Demon Hunter, and the +1 attack from Druid, all equals 6 damage to the face, in Rogue, which also makes two bodies, restores 2 health and draws a card.

With the Needs "Questline", you just build your deck around it as usual. I'm not saying it'd be a strong deck, but ramp is easy for druid. Being at full health is easy with Reno. Having a full board is easy with Scale of Onyxia or even Mad Summoner. So you'd be building a Reno combo deck, I guess.

Aranna's consistency could be good for the game. It's always the same, which means you know it's coming and can play around it - versus theotar where you can't really play around him. What I mean is if disruption demon hunter is popular then you know that you need to draw your high-cost win condition before that, so it doesn't get transformed. Which can be pretty easy if you play druid for example. This creates variance in games. If you face demon hunter your game plan might be different than when playing versus hunter, which is good for the game. Also if Arianna would get too popular you can also add some throwaway ten cost minions to your deck to possibly eat the polymorph effect.

You want Classless Act to be 4 mana? That seems insane to me? Why should we have 4 mana draw a card, summon 2 little dudes, deal 6 damage to opponent, gain 3 armor?? (3 attack from dh druid rogue, 3 damage from hunter mage, 3 armor from warrior druid, draw from warlock priest, dudes from paladin shaman)

Alright. Aranna basically the same but instead "Transform the highest cost minion into a Wraith with the same stats, but reduce its cost by half" Or something. Turn a combo play into a more tempo play as a trade off? I dunno. Just an idea.

Agreed with the Aranna disruption minion. Disruption stays fun when its narrow or involves some luck. Aranna is both broad and very consistent -- OP OP.

Unless the combo minions are in hand: gets hard countered by simply keeping your expensive combo pieces in hand instead of sending em back in the Mulligan, which for Sire Denathrius, you want to do anyways for max infusions, or simply add in some bigger minions that aren't part of your win condition but can improve your deck's performance It's strong, but nowhere near OP since it can't hit hand

wait, classless act gives your hero: - 3 attack (with 1 weapon charge left if you use it) - 3 armor - 1 targeted ping - 2 hero dmg - 1 draw - 1 1/1 minion - 1 random totem - +2 heal on a minion at the cost of -2 hero health i mean, that's removal/draw/board presence/aggro/health all in one. 4 mana would make it too much of an auto-include for a lot of decks, at 5 however it'd have to specifically fit your deck or you could be doing better things in that turn. i agree with 6 being too much but i disagree with 4 being the correct cost

Easy fix for the Hierarchy of needs card: make physiological needs gain 1 empty mana crystal, and give the card Repeatable This Turn for every phase. You probably can’t print this in standard with Guff, because it’s nearly guaranteed to win late in the game, but it lets you “Achieve” each phase instead of needing to already be there

I think the problem with disruption right now is that decks are too reliant on one wincon and losing that card means kinda gg. I think this is gonna be a big problem going forward because power creep is making disruption too disruptive.

Gonna go a bit off here, but this is an issue with having a card game where the attacker fully controls trades (as opposed to blocker-based systems like MTG or Runeterra where the defender picks the trades). This means aggressive strategies have an inherent advantage, which means it's harder to reach the lategame. As the power level increases the lategame becomes even harder to reach so big cards have to basically win the game on the spot to be worth running, which means the decks running them instalose if those cards are yoinked, which means disruption can cause too many really feel-bad outcomes. Iksar even said at one point they were having trouble designing cards that cost more than 5 because the power level needed to be absolutely bananas or they'd never see play. The way to solve this is simple: just dial the power level down for a few expansions every few years so you have a new baseline to creep up from. I liked when they tried to do that with the Year of the Raven - bit of a boring year because new stuff was overshadowed by the last year's stuff, but the next year could've been great - but it unfortunately was followed up by the insane power creep of Year of the Dragon, with possibly the single biggest power spike in all of Hearthstone being Descent of Dragons.

i think aranna is easily fixed if it's changed to "Battlecry: Transform a higher-Cost minion in your opponent's deck into a Wraith with its stats and Cost." where "higher-cost" means a random minion with a cost above the average cost of minions in their deck. this gives opponents a chance to deckbuild around it and introduces a luck factor to balance things out. a different approach would be to keep the current effect but add a positive for the opponent to it, like for example: "Battlecry: Your opponent draws the highest-Cost minion in their deck. It loses all effects and costs [3] less." that at least gives the opponent a beatdown advantage. i do think aranna with that effect should be a 5 mana 5/4 though, beatdown advantage isn't worth a lot if aranna herself can easily take out the affected card

the Physiological Needs is a lot less balanced than you give it credit for. just run a reno control/ fatigue deck with scale of ony. it's an already existing deck that's made much better with one card

I dunno, I think that polymorph ultrasaur would be better off as a mage/shaman card. Shamans are known for having beasts, evolving into something better, and changing things in general. Paladins are more about protecting and buffing things that already exist. Changing something with a polymorph effect seems too wild for the conservative paladins.

I'd make Aranna cheaper/smaller but randomize her target. Maybe change her to a spell disruption where the spell becomes a wraith/elemental with power/touhgness equalling its mana cost.

Nobody talking about that the op part of brann is not thta u can use cheap battlecry minions to generate lot's of value, but that u can negate negative battlecries cause is "instead". Thinks like the 4 mana 7/7 deathratle draw 3 cards or the 2 mana 4/4 are disguting and an oppening such a turn 3, coin, brann and flame imp can be like super snowbally

A different way to do the "Needs" card is instead of adding the next card to your hand, it *casts* the next card if it can't activate. Boost the cost and effect too, and it becomes a general purpose "Gain resource" card. Obviously the win-con would be nigh impossible here, needing ALL the requirements simultaneously, so instead I'd have Self Actualisation boost the cap on hand size, life, mana, and it buffs your board. Super unlikely to happen, and not what it'd be played for, instead a pseudo-choose one resource generator. Probably talking out my ass, but I feel a 'cascading' card that tries multiple ways to resolve could be interesting

I do think Aranna is quite balanced. Trump need to read carefully at the effect. She can only target cards INSIDE the deck. If it is in the hand then she actually become useless. And moreover you need to draw her as well. And lastly if opponent. isn’t a combo deck, it’s a 6/5 do nothing.

I think flavor wise, the first card could be fixed for the game by making it some sort of barbarian warlord character. You know, the leader is holding everything together, and when they kick the bucket there is a chaotic struggle for power, a Brawl.

The joke doesn't exist without the specific historical figures they picked. Obviously if it were in the game, yes you would have to change it, but as it was submitted as a meme, this is definitely the best version of the card.

That spell is called the Apocalypse probably because there are a *crapload of damage spells above 5 mana*. Flamestrike, Blizzard, Pyroblast, Rune of the Archmage, Tidal Wave, and that's just what I remember off the top of my head. If a tandom spell that's 5+ is being cast every turn, shits gonna die guaranteed.

the biggest problem with spells that says "end your turn" is that they will be in the random spell bucket that will be casted automatically and hence create much unnecessary frustration, like doomsayer level of random that mess up all your gameplan i don't think it should be printed ever for that sole reason, however, if you clearly state, like out of game in library that such and such does not appear in random spell casting, it would be right ! because such effects will limit card creation liberty, sadly

Aranna would be fine if it wasn't a cheap minion. It could be an expensive minion with good stats, and the same effect. The problem is, at 5 mana its way to easy to play. And even if it hits a minion that costs like 5 - 6 mana and the deck you are up against is some kind of aggressive mid range deck... its stats are still good as vanilla so its still not even bad. It could be an 8 mana 9/8 though.

Wait, Classless Act for 4 mana? Its like 1/2 Weapon, battlecry: gain 1 armor, 2 attack, heal target for 2,deal 1 dmg to target and 2 to face, also summon totem, 1/1 and draw a card.

I don’t think Aranna is took consistent. It’s the highest cost minion in the deck, anything in the hand would be safe. And the earliest you could get it out is turn 4 if you have coin.

I think the fact that you can't actually play Self-Actualization due to not being able to add a card to your hand once your hand is full is more of a poetic thing, in that you can't actually fulfill all your needs and achieve true self actualization in the way that Maslow describes it. No matter how much you want to push for it, the other needs will drag you down and stop you somehow, eventually.

I think the demon hunter arranais sort of ok. You often want to draw denathrius early, so it shouldn’t always hit him. I would move it to six mana though, for taelin
