Very great guitar-but I hate that Fender keeps omitting the rhythm circuit.

Noone is ever going to use it. Yeah i know that a bunch of bedroom guitarists swears by it but none of the artists who popularized jazzmasters did ever use it.

Actually the Player II is a step backwards with the omission of the rhythm circuit. The Player series had splitable humbuckers, so split is sounded more Jazzmaster, whilst in humbucking "mode" it was very much like the rhythm circuit in the neck pickup position. Fender's humbuckers are very good. People hating on Pau Ferro wood is just hilarious. Pau Ferro can be more expensive to source and it was only because of the cites issue Fender started using it. As far as the color, again just complaining. You can get some monty's wax and make it darker. Anyway, it's a bit of a headscratcher why they omitted the rhythm circuit. It's a main feature in Jazzmasters, that's where the Jazz part comes from.

BTW - I liked your review on that little Harley Benton DNAfx GiT Pro (With advanced amp modelling, multi-effect processor and IR loader) so much, I bought one. It is everything you had said in your demo/review and even more. Great BANG for the price and tons of fun to use. I will save money to buy a Line-6-Helix for next time :)

Hey, thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoy the videos, thank you for the kind words! Yeah the DNAfx is a really cool little multi FX unit. I think they really nailed it with a lot of the simulations on there. For the money, it's really hard to fault. It's got so many features in such a small unit. I wish something like that existed when I started playing!

It looks and sounds good, but I think it's a little on the bright side. A bit ice picky in that bridge. Anyone else hearing that? Are those one meg pots? Otherwise, stellar.

Everyone knows how a tremolo works and also knows how finicky they can be, particularly as to tuning stability. So wish you were able to comment on that.

Yeah I was gutted about that, because I only had the guitar for a day I didn't really have time to go back and collect the tremolo arm, but, I haven't heard anything negative about the tremolo stability from this range, it seems people are getting on with them fine from what I've heard.

I think it's time to accept that the rhythm circuit was an interesting way of channel switching in the 1950's, but literally nobody uses it for that purpose today (if they ever did). Not when we have multichannel amps and thousands of pedals that do it better. .

Pau Ferro was a terrible wood, super dry and never felt nice to play.

I always thought the colour made it look strange too, it was too light.

Hard disagree. It was always dry from the factory, but if you put a bit of oil on it (Fender's Custom Shop Fingerboard Remedy is good, and cheap!) and I think it looks and feel great. I wouldn't have it on every guitar but I have a sage green metallic Player 1 JM and I think the reddish wood really matches the paint colour well.

its basically a mexican classic vibe with rosewood and better tuners moved bridge and no rhythm section. Fender know lots of people want the traditional features so wont kill their own market by offering a mexican version at a lower price. Its still ok if you dont care about all that.
