Not going to defend or make excuses for these drivers, but I noticed that the Pedestrian sign @ 7:52 is quite small. Perhaps a much larger sign (similar) to the square one at the crosswalk would at least help get the attention of some of the drivers. It's not a perfect solution, but it's a simple action that, even if prevents a few drivers from entering the sidewalk, it's worth it.
