Just wanted to share my thoughts and say how thankfull I am for the effort put into making this adaptation... Crazy how 20 years can go by and you end up appreciating it even more . The thoughtfulness that was put into the creation of these works seems to be less common these days... It's all just incoherent with very shallow plots and horrible writing.... also with adaptations they dont respect the source material.... politics is also shoved down our throats at the expense of story and substance..... Its jarring and i cant see how it achieves anything. This trilogy might be the best example of what it used to be and will forever be a piece of art in history that will always be looked upon with awe and nostalgia ( at least for our generation). it's going to be interesting to see what thoughts people have in 100 years from now or 200 years.. looking back as if it was an actual art piece on a wall or a work of architecture from centuries ago, as we perceive today. Well done guys I hope that we see more like this in the future, for the next generations to also experience and look back upon so fondly. 😊 I always think what if someone like Peter was put in charge of a 1 billion dollar budget and a series such as the ring of Power. 😅😅.

Well said, it truly is a work of art. And a master class of filmmaking whether you are into fantasy or not. I’m grateful to say I got to see these films when they came out in theaters as a kid and man nothing could possibly come close to the level of imagination it made you feel as a kid. But coming back 20+ years later as an adult and seeing all the mid that has come since this amazing trilogy and ESPECIALLY after you watch stuff like this and the behind the scenes stuff it just gives you so much more of an appreciation for the films. The ultimate example of how to stay true to the story and make the most faithful adaptation you can to film ❤️

@@maxgoss5653 I couldn't agree more, when you're younger you have more innocence and raw emotion... When you can look back and rewatch things like this and see it through different eyes in a way it just amplifies those feelings and thoughts you had. All the behind the scenes stuff again I can't agree more .... It's so nice to see what their thoughts were and what they were trying to portray ... then how those ideas were ultimately executed.... Filled in a lot of blanks for me... Giving credit all along the way to all the people that helped make this vision possible... Shows how passionate everyone was and the teamwork required to pull it all off! Can't imagine the hours put in... I bet those people will be thankful to be recognised and not just in the background 😊 I want to go down this rabbit hole and find other behind the scenes stuff... On other films from the past ! Gives you way more appreciation

I'm wondering if Peter Jackson is already working on the "25th anniversairy Edition" he keeps mentioning, since it's been at least 25 years since the production of the movies started :)

Thank you so much for reuploading these commentaries! I was planning on finishing Part 2 of the Return of the King commentary back in October only to find your channel was deleted. 😭 So I'm really glad you're back. It's so interesting to know the backstory behind each scene and I appreciate how Peter Jackson remembers all the actor's names including the folks who played minor characters like some Orc grunts. Also how Peter Jackson and his team had safety as their priority, and planned out sets and scenes to reduce risk of accidents or injury for the actors. I already knew filming with horses was dangerous because of the rabbit holes (thanks IMDB!) but filming the last stand on a minefield?! And getting the New Zealand Army involved? :O Okay~ we're approaching the 25th anniversary of Lord of the Rings and Peter Jackson has said he has hours with of cut footage including an epilogue montage of what happened to the rest of the Fellowship like Legolas bringing a troop of Elves to restore Ithilien, Gimli exploring the Glittering Caves, so... Make each film 8 hours long! We'll watch it! And marathon it!! For years to come!!!

i hope they make the 25th anniversary edition it will definitely be a worse *film* than the extended trilogy, but I want more LOTR and, if at all possible, more behind the scenes bits. Thats what's truly unique about this trilogy, the sheer quantity and depth of behind the scenes content. Over 14 hours of it, and then there are the commentaries which talk about even more.
