So basically you’re evolving the European hippo back into existence. It’s like extinction going in reverse and don’t forget for every predator. There must be prey I mean.

@@jamessparkman6604 nope they're not preys, just like in Africa predation only play a minimal role in their population, they're mainly limited by drought and ressources and habitat availability.

Interesting there was Hippopotamuses in Europe in that time unlike Crocodiles.

The next video will be - Rewilding Aurochs into Southern Korean Peninsula (South Korea) - the East Eurasian Aurochs (Bos primigenius sinensis) became extinct around 100 BCE to 300 CE of the Korea's Three Kingdoms during the Iron Age of the Late Holocene.

Did you know that sea otters used to lived in northern Japan. Not only in Japan but also live in the cost of Pacific Ocean. You can make a video about that sea otters in the Pacific Ocean including northern Japan. ☺️☺️

I’d call Columbia and ask them how Pablo’s hippos are doing before I just started dumping 6000 pound animals into a landscape. Did we regain that “loss of habitat” that caused their extinction?

@itayperlman139, This video is so spectacular, and this rewilding idea is interesting, but no predator in Europe would be able to hunt down full-grown hippos, and hunting their young is a risky business. Great video though
@pm11367 күн бұрын
Yes so we would need huge predators like pack of wolves or single big canid, big cats or even bear to kill young or sick and/or old individual. We could also recreate aquatic species of hog like the extinct potamochoerus magnus and the one named "Hippopotamodon"... In america we could also reintroduce in southern united states, capybara and tapirs

Maybe they’ll evolve into the European hippos who have been extinct for millions of years they’re turning the world back to the ice age

this particular rewilding is going to take a lot of work and planning but it is difficult but not too impossible to do I mean there are many good reasons to do so all of which are in this video but there are some major hurtles to overcome namely climate and human wildlife conflict I mean there are many towns and villages near rivers of possible release and hippos need a lot of space not just during the day but land for grazing at night when it's cooler for them plus people who are poverty stricken or just plain greedy where they may be reintroduced may be tempted to poach or illegally hunt the hippos into excess plus there is also the matter of climate hippos may wander into the Alps and possibly get sick or die but remember Hannibal Barca led a contingent of African elephants across the Alps and still managed to help nearly all of them survive so maybe just maybe hippos could survive in countries in Europe with a cold seasonal climate plus we also need to think about how to plan the whole process so I say we gather at least 50-60 hippos from Colombia and maybe 100 from Kenya and Tanzania put them in an enclosure in one of the southern European countries namely either southern Spain or France or in the border lands in some wild river between southern France and Italy let them get used to each other and the climate then release them
