But this is. I have used the sand 3 jacket for long range offroad trips through Sweden and Norway in very mixed conditions. But also for touring through Europe on asfalt roads. Ventilation is the jackets strong side. Big ventilation openings and armor with holes makes for good airflow. However this is only with the water proof liner out. With it in and ventilation isn't good at all. The pocket on the back for the liner is nice. You can carry it around without noticing it at all. I rode through heavy rain for ours in Norway with the liner in and it kept me dry enough. The jacket however will obviously be soaking wet and very heavy. It is a very nice feature that it is prepared for a neck brace. It is a long jacket. This is perfect for me who is 196 cm tall (6foot 5) but maybe not so much for shorter riders. On the negative side is the elbow armor. It's really uncomfortable if you don't have a thicker shirt on. I have even tested it in a crash. Went down on black ice and skidded 50 meters on tarmac. The fabric on one elbow broke but as a whole no big problems. I am still using that jacket. The quality feel is good and people often comment on it as a good looking jacket. I would recommend it to adventure riders who ride in mixed or warm conditions. If you ride mostly in cool and wet areas I would recommend a jacket with a water proof shell instead.

SoCal resident. We have summer for nine months. Though my closet is full of several jackets I have acquired over the years, my go-to ADV/tour ensemble is the Scorpion Yosemite jacket and pants. It has flaws, but it is probably the best combo of venting and sealing I have found. For cold (ha!) weather, I eschew the provided insulation layers and use an electric liner under the jacket and a pair of windproof thermals under the pants. For riding the dual-sport, I stripped a couple of older jackets (one mesh, one cold weather) of their integral armor and wear them over a Fox Titan armored jacket. If rain is a possibility, I carry a one-piece rain suit.

Bought the Sand 3 jacket and pants at the end of last year. Loved it since then! I got a medium sized white jacket, maybe a small might be best fit without the liners. But I like the fact that I can singe down certain areas to keep the armor in place and havr the extra airflow when needed. Started todays ride in cold weather, with all the liners, and trough out the day, I had the option to remove stuff when it got warmer :) Like I said before, love this jacket!!

I have the same Rev it Sand 3 in white. I like white because of the reasons of being myself more visible to other traffic, being cooler during sunshine, and because black is just too generic. It does get dirty though, and some of the stains never come off, but I am still happy with it.

great video. i have come to the same conclusion that you are best off having impact/abrasion protection, water/wind protection and insulation in separate clothing pieces for example, you are even able to ride in winter conditions if you combine a base and a insulation layers under a nice fitting perforated leather/mesh jacket and a rain/winter jacket on top. with that setup you could ride in winter or summer conditions. all in one solutions are not a must have

I'm having success with layering on top of my protective riding jacket. I use a summer weight mesh jacket close to the skin and layer either an extreme weather jacket over that in the cold (2 layers of protection), or a waterproof 3/4 length snowboard jacket if it's warm and pissing down rain. In really cold, around the freezing mark, I switch the summerweight jacket for a down under layer. I find that tent waterproofing spray helps keep my riding pants dry in light rain and I layer waterproof rainpants over that in moderate to heavy rain or cold. God bless heated grips....

gotta say that looking for Solid, reliable zippers on your gear is a must, especially if you're searching for more budget minded jackets. Also that having a dedicated Rain layer to go over the jacket is another very viable option for wet weather. They can be made of PVC or other fabrics that arent as finicky as Goretex and are easily donned or removed.

In this country you can count on one hand those very hot days. I have an RST Adventure 2 suit in black, great piece of kit similar to your Rev'It. Downside with black is riding in the winter months when it's dark in the mornings and evenings, then a hi-viz is a must. Great advice. :-)

I had a Rev'it Sand before, and I wanted to finish with all these layers...that's why I went with Klim Badlands. Now, several brands do the same type of jackets, like Dainese and BMW with the Enduroguard suit. I personally find more convenient to put my own layers. And for the boots, I have Sidi Adventure gore-tex, really nice but warm in summer time...

Internal removable water liner is a dealbreaker for me. Could just aswell get a water resistant jacket and a rain overcoat for those crazy rain days. Heavy wet jacket sucks. Prefer the 2 layer goretex without all fat pockets and with big ventilation.

I like a mix and match approach. Plus I make my own modifications since I’m handy with a sewing machine and somewhat inventive. I have a great Bull-it covec airflow suit which is an abrasion resistant base layer suit with massive air flow. It was designed for flat track racing and its made of LC polymer which is in the same family of textiles as aramid but it has some different qualities. However I think it could be great for desert off roading. I live in Mongolia which has the famous Gobi desert. Anyway, I can wear the air flow suit alone. I’ve added sacrificial Velcro attached extra abrasion layers at the pointy bits. Since they are removable, I can choose Cordura 1000d, kangaroo leather or another layer of covec. For rain or cold, I just layer over the suit.

I hate rain liners. In the southeast US maybe raining heavily for 15 minutes followed by mid 90s. Pulling over to pull liners off and on stink. Much easier to pull over and zip the front zippers and roll. Reason I went with the Klim badlands jacket and pants.

I have spent a lot of money over the years on moto gear. That being said, none of it made me a better rider. I currently have a Motonation Pursang jacket that was only $180. It works awesome. I don’t want to turn anyone away from paying $500 for a Revit jacket or $1000 for the latest Klim jacket but maybe some guys should buy a $200 jacket and spend $800 towards a riding school. I learned how to ride offroad racing hare scrambles for years. I consider that a better investment than a $1k coat.

I've gone to an EVS armor shirt with a Klim Mojave jersey in warm/hot weather and a cheap synth down jacket over top if it's cold. Bottoms are Klim Mojave pants with MX shin /knee gaurds and synth down pants if it's cold. What about rain? Marmot Precip top and bottoms. The synth down and Precip gear packs super small and light. Boots are Sidi Adventure Rains. No gear is totally waterproof PERIOD. I've had Aerostich, Klim and Scorpion fancy dancy gear. It leaks, eventually and a waste of money in the end. My $200 set of Marmot backpacking rain gear never has leaked because it's ripstop. Every ADV guy thinks he has to have gear specific stuff or you don't "look" cool. I must be old, I don't care as long as it's functional and I'm not too hot or too cold or wet... Great channel. Glad I found it.

Its because its way cheaper than laminating the waterproof liner to the outer shell. I use a laminated jacket when I’m on an extended trip, or ride with a mesh jacket and a rain jacket in my bag for day rides. I once had an Alpinestars andes jacket with liners like the Revit. I was too warm when it didnt rain, and when it did, the jacket got extremely heavy and took a day to dry. Never again.

Why do you need to remove it many times a day? I remove or put it back when needed, usually once every few weeks or so. And it literally takes like 30 seconds, wear the trouser liners themselves only first, then put on the actual trousers, and its much easier.

I'll never understand why I would want a jacket that has a waterproof inner liner. That just means that while you may stay dry the outer layer of the jacket is going to get soaked, becoming very heavy and cold. I live in a fairly dry climate which is basically the transition zone from alpine to desert environments. It makes no sense to me to have to stop and put a liner in or a shell over my jacket or pants when it rains just to stop and take it off again when it stops. If you wear Gore-Tex or other water proof gear you're always covered no matter the weather. Sure, it doesn't breathe as well as something that's not water proof but that what vents are for.

Glove question!!! For use in our California winters, bike is a 1200GS with OEM brush guards, heated grips. Would like a full leather palm/finger on the front of the hand for good feel, and insulation only on the back. Any suggestions??

Hi Vadim, the Neck Brace Bret is using has been discontinued. Leatt is indeed not compatible with the attachment points. The neck braces from Moveo do fit with our jackets. A dealer can order the neck brace connection kit so you can connect it to your Sand 3 jacket.

Need tall size. Nobody makes it. Went with Air 2.0 Roadmaster. Black is all there was. Being mesh it is the best jacket I have had for summer. I carry clothes for cold and liners. Have a Helium II rain coat to go under as well as rain liner. So far this seems like the perfect system for me. Goretex is just too hot and not actually necessary. No air flow is a killer.

Hi, First of all i want to say that i only discovered your videos about a month ago and i like very much. Thanks for all the tips! :) Well, i have the Sand 3 Jacket and i'm considering the Sand 3 pants too but the outer material seems to be considerably hot (forgetting the inner layers and the air vents). Have you already tried it? And what do you think? One thing i can't understand on the pants is that "layer" behind the main zip. Ok, it protect us more on rainy days, but how are we supposed to pee??? :) I already thought, if i buy the pants, on cutting on one of the sides; this way if i want to pee, i don't have to "drop" down the pants :) Thanks!

Bret and I both have Sand-3 pants. I don't have a problem with the layer behind the zipper, but it is necessary to pull the pants down a little in the front to relieve yourself. I wear them in hot weather and they vent well, but if you ride often in a hot climate you might consider cooler pants for hot days.

I was interested in what Jacket it is that I see you in in your videos. Obviously your experience counts here and I am looking for more affordable Gore-Tex alternative for my Africa Twin Adventures. A brief disclaimer; I use a Gore=Tex shell for snow skiing, that I layer beneath depending on temperature, and even in New England’s March rains on the slopes I was dry. Recently I was in Banff Skiing in negative temperatures -5ºF and it performs well layered, no sweat, no cold! So obviously the $265 I paid Eddy Bauer for this back in the 2003 and Gore-Tex being around for more than 10 years, Patent Life???, I thought I would find a bargain or a reasonable knock off??? Your Jacket then intrigued me but when you mentioned dirt, Gore-Tex like “liner” (?), and not able to wash the dirt out you lost me. That is the beauty of the PTFE impregnated fabric (Gore-Tex) is its washability! Now I’m curious as to why you can not if it is a Gore-Tex-like fabric???

If the liner is not removable it is hard to clean. Not gore-tex necessarily. Any liner. Goretex shells are different from liners.

王哲平 oh!!! Those are some really old BMW Summer 2 pants upgraded with the new REV’IT armor for better ventilation. But be warned the waist sizes are really big. I had to tailer mine. Those pants have traveled many continents with me.

Bret is an excellent talent, who can provide oodles of great content, but Rev'it isn't included in that, in my opinion. I've had both Revit and Klim gear, with Klim smoking Revit all day long. The quality and "robustness" of Klim Adventure gear simply is not approached by Rev'its offerings. The stitching is subpar, the materials are subpar, and the fit is tighter (more streamlined) than Klim, which translates to less mobility off-road. I sold my Revit gear and moved to Klim years ago, and have NEVER looked back. I use the Baja S4 for Summer riding and the Kodiak for all other riding windows. I'm so satisfied......

Hey Superwout, I have the urban version of this jacket. It is relatively cool in the summer with the vents open, but if you're mainly riding in warm weather, look at something like the Rev'it Eclipse. Much better on hot days.

It's not CE level 2, it's just level 2. CE stands for China export

CE Level 2 is correct - The CE marking is the manufacturer's declaration that the product meets EU standards for health, safety, and environmental protection. “CE" is sometimes indicated as an abbreviation of "Conformité Européenne" (French for "European Conformity"), but is not defined as such in the relevant legislation. The CE mark indicates that the product may be sold freely in any part the European Economic Area, irrespective of its country of origin.

@@alexanderbruns8709 - Correct. Also, I believe anything safety critical does need to be tested to be verified for the CE mark, but for other stuff, the manufacturer can self-certify that it meets the EU set criteria. One would hope motorcycle wear is in the former category. Stay safe.
