The design is exquisite. Just one note: books are not decor. They are meant to be seen, read, talked about: the ultimate conversation pieces. One wouldn't turn clothes inside out to make a closet look better. So please don't turn books around.

This house is so lovely. It is refreshing to see a house with colour and character that is not saturated with whit white white. More of these characterful and colourful houses.

I like the use of all the mirrors. The house is calm and sophisticated. I have to say that the cherub pendant was my favorite object in that house. I’m happy to see that it was given a special place.

Any time anyone turns books around it sends me into a rage. Like putting paintings up with the back out, or mounting the TVs backwards

And in the entry foyer! What is the point??? You're NEVER going to read those books. You're literally greeting guests with a giant sign that says "Welcome to my pretentious wasteful space". That is not a ding on having a large home, I am guilty of that. It just doesn't make any sense. IMHO that "trick" i's decor not design. It is overdone and not remotely clever. Please stop with this already, I beg. Alternatives for that wall: a large antique armoire to serve as a coat closet??? Large scale art or sculpture. Hang a tapestry or rug to soften any echo/noise

It's really pretty and beautiful but how do they find a book to read if they r all turned around ,unless they wrote down on something exactly where each book is .I mean I wouldn't want to go through all those books to find what I wanted to read lol.Im sure they must have worked out some kind of system unless they don't actually read the books and they r just decorative .
@helenaszmuness67832 жыл бұрын
Books are not just for room decor. They're for reading, actually.
@ToyasTales2 жыл бұрын
Okay, I thought it was just me who was taken aback by that. I didn't understand. Why collect books that you're not going to read? If they were reading the books on a regular basis it would be pretty frustrating trying to find a book you're looking for.

Mirrors on ceiling, wallpaper, and kitchen are pretty. Like the juxtaposition of the cerulean blue on brick with the art grid. That book case is beautiful. The design is very masculine. I thought the client was a man until the hallway lol. I think the books turned around is too staged. Great if you are styling a window at Macys or just for a photo shoot. I am sure she didn’t leave them that way.
@ericpircher Жыл бұрын
I thought the same thing re the masculine design. I'm still convinced the client is male. I loved the kitchen but much else about this interior design really bothered me, most of all the reversed books and the fireplace.

Beautiful home but not at all french. If there were herringbone floors and larger moldings I would agree. This is more like a Tribeca loft. Also the French don’t have huge closets nor do they amass clothes like we do here. It’s paired down but good quality.

Very beautiful and a personal story told in the space. I am not so sure about the stringers - is that wallpaper? And the floors - that heavy lacquer on the short and narrow boards....but this is probably existing material?

My absolute horror is to see books done like this. Books are beautiful and are meant to be read. NOt to be abused or hidden like a naughty child. This is one of the worst fashion trends. Also gives with animal heads on a wall ewwww Maybe you should hang the art back to front as they might clash with the decor.

I want to like this channel's reveal series but the editing in these videos drives me nuts. There is no way this should have eaten up 30 minutes of my life but I can't sleep so here we are. Each of these has left me wanting more views of the home and far fewer views of the Designer. Think voice over rather than single-focus interview. Editing impoved as you moved into the kitchen and picked up again for the mezzanine. Perfect example was when you showed the French doors opening as the Designer shared her vision for the space. Tres bon Second tip: tell us story that visually and logically moves us through a space. Introduce the bobcat once. Introduce the fireplace once. Doubling back wastes time and is disjointed. Throw in a LOT of mixed metals, reversed books (ARGH!!!), French posters and wallah! You have a super long video that leaves your viewers underwhelmed. Design-wise: LOVE the mezzanine level. My word! What a view. I'll save my thoughts on the "Landscaping" but that space has loads of potential! Me thinks I see The Ryman across the street?!?! Ahhh, c'est la vie! The 2nd guest bedroom was very well done. Of all the rooms, it hits the Parisian vibe that lured us here. Merci! Now, splain to me again why I need those two faucets RIGHT NEXT to one another??? Cuz, pouquoi?

Pardon moi, I forgot to mention that beautiful owner's en suite. Save for the echo...ahem - editing...that was my 2nd favorite room. The video sequence and overall design showed well. Loved the moody vibe, the tub/shower situation and the strategic glimpses of the hardware & cabinetry. Here's to a lifetime of sound plumbing!

Turning books around so you can’t see the titles just proves you do not actually read books. It’s so functionally stupid and pretentious, it’s not worth it for people who read. Ps - try synonyms of the word "story". Webster (thesaurus) has over 100 even if you just Google instead of using, you know, a book. Love the brick walls, blueprints, elevator door, Art Deco pieces.
