I've got the 2006 shuttle and booster kit. Man alive is it really kicking my butt. So its take a break time while I try to figure out where to go to make it all fit better.

I built this kit when the shuttle flights were just starting 40 yrs ago. I don't remember having the fit problems you describe here. It must be because the tooling was much newer back then.

I really don't understand why no one makes the launch complex. I know they had one back in the 80s, but I want one in 72nd scale. as a kid I was always disappointed how small all the models were, and I'm overjoyed coming back as an adult and finding out I can finally get a Starship Enterprise in the proper size, but I can't get a space shuttle with tanks and boosters and the elevator and arms I'd love a Saturn too, but I have to make do with the Lego kit

Simply put, lack of sales. Not everyone can make a launch complex, much less one in 1/72 scale, so it's not profitable for a company to make the toolings for one unfortunately. Your best bet would be to make one from scratch. I also wanted to do a 1/72 shuttle with the boosters and tank but they don't make them anymore, so I couldn't get one.

@@rpgiv3175 yes I'm aware of the expense and challenges of injection molding, but in this ear of 3-D printing, you figure someone would do it, and surely they could make a tank and boosters, because I figure most people who are interested in a shuttle are also interested in those.

Had you considered dry brushing the tile details on the payload doors and fusalage?

I have, and I decided against it. I didn't want to weather the model too hard

@rpgiv3175 thank you, it seems I made this model in the 80s, if I remember correctly the under belly and wings had raised sheild details. I've watched a couple of other full kit builds that had underside decals to add in heat seild tiles, didn't see that with this model. Also I was looking to dry brush in the tile details because man after a mission the shuttles looked like they were off roaded. I'm thinking about buying this kit and reliving my childhood

Are there any boosters and fuel tank available for this kit? I have no idea why anyone would make a space shuttle kit without them

Unfortunately there are no boosters or fuel tanks available for this kit (that I'm aware of). It doesn't make much sense to me either, but they did it like this.

@@rpgiv3175 oh I feel that I know why they didn't do it, it's real time and boosters are large pieces of plastic that you had to pop accurately in the 1980s. What can go wrong. my bigger surprise is that no third-party has made them

I should add that I have less than zero talent for scratch building, and 3-D modeling for that matter, so I'm unfortunately dependent on others
