Absolutely brilliant.. The silence between the instruments signifying the natural silence, emptiness, and ambience that the wilderness gave Hugh Glass as he traveled. Hearing this on it's own is amazing. But hearing this after watching The Revenant makes this so much more enjoyable. What a masterpiece. The entire film..

The soundtrack is another factor that made the movie so memorable. The beauty of the somber music sent chills down my spine, and it had a very bittersweet feel to it. As if this was going to be the end. I can listen to this for hours and never get tired of this movie.

As much as it felt the end was looming, there was a level of underlying peace through an acceptance of the insignificance and futility of survival in that vast wilderness. The sound track really contributed to that.

This movie captured a feeling so rarely expressed well in film. Definitely a different movie experience, a great one at that! I think some people didn't like it because they're just not ready or willing to mine the depths of their 'soul' to connect with the places this movie takes you emotionally.

“While you can still breathe, you fight, you survive..” This movie really taught me a life lesson. No matter how bad you’ve fallen, failed or lost.. you keep on fighting. You survive. The world is a very cold place, there will always be a bear or a Fitzgerald trying to take you down. Don’t let them. You die when you know you have done everything you can, when you know you have left something behind, a legacy. And finally, let God do the rest, put your faith and problems at the feet of The Creator. You will be victorious.

Jean, hahahaha. The movie, well, the movie, but I wish that they had filmed it where it actually happened--Missouri, the Dakotas, etc. Not Canada and the southern tip of Argentina! And they changed the real story quite a bit. But it had Tom Hardy who should have receuved the supporting role Oscar along side his bud Leo.

There is a change in instrument or synth at 2:34 and for whatever reason it elevates the theme to another level. I think this piece of music comes after the opening battle when they're sailing down the river recuperating and in the cinema it was such an incredibly calming experience... Saw this film twice, loved it.

I feel like the boat scene was not a good place to bring out this track for the first time. The emotions this makes you feel felt a little out of place with what was happening on screen. Never thought I could have multiple experiences of the same thing just like the first time. The Revenant is one of the best films ever made. It's beautiful, haunting, surreal, spiritual and despite being a film of a lonely character surviving in the wild, the film surprisingly gives you a feeling of companionship. Hats off to the work of director Innaritu, cinematographer Lubezki, music composer Sakamoto, actors Decaprio and Hardy and the entire cast and crew. Thank you guys for this wonderful masterpiece.

The Sorrow, the solitude, The ecstasy of emotions you sail through, with this music and this movie, is an experience of life. "Once, walking alone ( no man around for miles) on the snow in swiss alps, this music surrounded me". There was joy of breathtaking views, at same time, fear of getting lost !! This event taught me: " You live once, enjoy each moment of life-gracefully!!"

Run as fast as you can. The darkness is not your friend. Those hands were never to be shaken. The tread is long. Not much to carry. Started to become weary. The night is once again eerie. I fear thy. Noises that break neck. Howls I can't forget. The consistent bothering of pests. Weak needing rest. Nowhere to find it. The snow is too cold. A cave filled with unknown. A constant chill that strikes bone. I've never felt more alone. I miss what I called home. I miss the comfort zone. Disassemble the chains. From that I will always refrain. Therefore I must tread. Forward is my best bet. I cannot let up. I can't let...I can't. In this bitter weather I have to say I can. That is if I want to see the next days end. Again and again. Until I've found what I've been wanting, and even then...it's still continuing, onward.

This score made this movie so much more! It made you get a sense of how difficult and brutal life can be back then. The natural lighting was absolutely beautiful in the landscape shots. A brutal and beautiful movie. One of the greats of this century.

This movie seriously changed my life. I remember seeing it with my brother when it came out and we had to leave the theatre early for some lame reason. But I just couldn’t take my eyes off the screen, it was such a moving and visually stunning movie. People complained about the shots being way too long or even the movie being boring but I have a hard time seeing that. Eventually I bought it in 4K for blu ray and watched it all the way through by myself. I seriously came out a different person after that. What I remember seeing was a tale of not just action characters gaining superpowers or some quirky comedy film, but a movie that defined reality. The harshness of people and nature. In the end the only thing that seemed viable in our chaotic world to fill the void of loss and betrayal was just violence, which is what defines us as humans.

This is one of the only film score that I’ve heard that gives a total feeling of isolation. It proves that you can make a world feel so huge with only a couple of notes. Music, to me, is the most powerful storyteller.

The cold...the cold eats up my inner thoughts. I was driven to isolation, into a dark abyss, far from where any light shines. My soul longed for you...I sought your face in every moment. As the journey became longer, the constant nagging of revenge my motivation. Everything taken from me, my heart pounding to keep me alive, my breath short and abrupt. The snow covering the mountains stung my skin. The scars and bruises a sign of survival. If I could survive all of this I will not go until revenge is achieved. I'm not afraid to die...not anymore...

I’M STOOD ATOP A PRECIPICE, BALANCED ON A LEDGE. IF I MOVE LEFT OR RIGHT I WILL FALL OVER THE EDGE. THIS IS A FAIR ANALAGY OF MY LIFE AND HOW I FEEL, I’M SO FAR REMOVED FROM THE PERSON I WAS IT SOMETIMES FEELS UNREAL. WHAT’S MY NEXT STEP, I NEED TO GIVE IT SOME THOUGHT, I NEED TO BUY MYSELF SOME TIME. SO WRITING DOWN HOW THINGS HAVE BEEN FOR SOME YEARS, UP TO THE PRESENT DAY, I DECICIDED TO WRITE A FEW LINES. WITHOUT THE KNOWLEDGE OF KNOWING IF I’LL GET BETTER OR NOT, DO I FALL INTO THE ABYSS, OR SETTLE FOR WHO I AM NOW AND ACCEPT WHAT I’VE GOT. ALL I SEEM TO HAVE, ALL I SEEM TO CREATE, ARE JUST MORE AND MORE QUESTIONS THAT NEED ANSWERS BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE. YOU MAY REMEMBER A SONG CALLED “HOLDING BACK THE YEARS” BY ALLOWING MYSELF TO REMEMBER I CAN’T HOLD BACK THE PAIN, THE SADNESS OR THE TEARS I NEED TO GO BACK TO A TIME IN MY LIFE, A TIME I WAS HAPPY, AS WAS MY FAMILY AND SO WAS MY WIFE. THIS IS A STORY, NOTHING SPECIAL IT’S JUST ABOUT ME. I’D NEVER GIVEN THOUGHT TO DEPRESSION, NOT BEING AFFECTED MAYBE I JUST DIDN’T CARE TO SEE IT’S QUITE HARD AND PAINFUL TO GO BACK TO THE DAY, WHEN MY LIFE CHANGED FOR THE WORSE IN EVERY WAY. IF ANY OF THIS RESONATES AS BEING TRUE, THEN KNOW YOU ARE NOT ALONE BECAUSE YOU ARE DEPRESSED TOO.

Lost my family pet of 12 years tonight just before Christmas, house feels empty with out him, feel upset, I knew he was not in the best way but never expected him to go so soon, never take loved ones for granted folks, sad how people/animals are here one moment and gone the next, and we are just left here missing them, time spent with good people/animals is a precious thing.. life can be cruel, and rarely ends in an ideal way, think a few days before he passed, he said his goodbyes in his own way, but I never quite realized at the time.. then he retreated to his shelter, for some solitude, sad thing is I never got to see him on his very last day, but he looked comfortable at least, and I hope he is up there with those he once knew who have also passed away.. RIP you was a good family pet and was also part of the family.

One of my best friends lost his 4 year old today.... As I age, I begin to see more death everywhere. It's cruel nature, although devastatingly horrendous. Gives purpose to those who continue to live. To live courageously, to live openly, and to live freely. R.i.p. little one. You are in my heart until it stops pumping.
