The simplicity of the levels makes me think that the dev might design the level by just randomly putting things on the level and then make their way to find the longest possible move

maybe true for some levels, but feels pretty untrue for others (there are quite a few that are specifically designed for a certain elegant thing and have a max score no one can beat lol)

@@IcelyPuzzles I mean, all open ended puzzles have a max score that no one can beat, that doesn't make them less open ended. I definitely disagree with them being random, but it's pretty clear they're explicitly made with the intention that 3 carrots isn't the most optimized solution.

I don't believe that the AI used to solve the puzzle will also be able to find the puzzle with the longest possible shortest solution in a reasonable time. If you make the puzzle, the state space for where the characters go is usually relatively small, and you can easily apply A* to it, whereas the number of possible puzzles is much larger and I don't think A* can be applied at all to finding the longest puzzle. Also, I think this problem is harder than NP (unless P=NP), particularly I think it is the class one above NP in the polynomial hierarchy.

It's weird that they made a two garlic level, when only one garlic and an onion would work exactly the same. The garlic has to avoid other characters the same way they have to avoid it. 13:15
