My daughter and I sang this song whenever it came on in the truck on the way to school or just driving- she ended it a couple of times with "Mom, I wish I knew you when you were young . . . you seem fun". I lost her last March at the age of 20. Just a song I will always cherish!

Lost my wife on our 10th. She was supposed to be getting well - the mental health system killed her in their egotistical attitude of I have a degree - yet they fail their clients in their game of Russian Roulette with meds instead of just first testing for drug interactions. I will never forget how much hurt she was put thru from that twisted Sister's agenda network. Best wishes - please do your self a favor, stay safe and away from the phycologist here's a pill 💊 for that network. Feelings prose's truth of your inter mind's hurt - that hurt is natural part of a lost life that was important. As my dad once said - chin up, shoulders back, chest out and eye's on Everything! @@flowermomma-vf3zl No one will get away from a lose at some point in life! It's just part of life😏 - what matters is the way you deal with it! It's not easy - when you lose everything that's most important to you, it hard - but if you find something that you can focus on that you can find some enjoyment from in their memory, daily living becomes bearable. No one and nothing can bring back the dreams lost - however, you can modify them in a way that can reduce the hurt... Our Anniversary is coming up soon - this is a hard month for my mind to deal with - just as her birthday is tough for me - but on this month I deal with are first time and our last time on this Earth, so it's a little tougher, but I live for the day I met her! After a few nights he played this song for me. I do wish I knew him when we were young. We might have made some big noise in the woods stomping down family trees together. I hope for him only the very best and that we'll meet again sooner than later. My time with good ppl has been brief but precious moments that keep me moving forward hoping for more. Now THIS is how you make a music video! You have two lovers separated by time reuniting in their twilight years. But at the same time the phasing in and out of their younger self's remind us no matter how old you get, you are still young at heart but also carry your regrets from years past. The other classmates at the reunion show us that you never lose your sense of fun, the man spiking the punch like he still 16 is a really nice touch. I also love the effect at the beginning when the man sees his love for the first time at the dance and glides towards her as if on a cloud.

@@rossogden9920 - That sure is where it took me! At the start, when the man looked at his lost-love's photo, it took me right back to the late 60s, when, as I found out much later, a good friend from high school wanted to ask me to senior prom but was too afraid, because he was black and I was white. Unfortunately, he died young, so we never got our happy ending. I loved that the couple in the video did, as did all the other kids whose relationships were forbidden fruit back then.

[Verse 1] You shine like a star You know who you are You're everything beautiful She's hot, hot like the sun The loneliest one Still everything beautiful Well, I'll be goddamned You're standing at my door We stayed up in the city Until the stars lost the war So Friday night, Holy Ghost Take me to your level Show me the one I need the most I need the most [Chorus] I wish I knew you when I was young We could've got so high Now we're here, it's been so long Two strangers in the bright lights Oh, I hope you don't mind We can share my mood, yeah Two strangers in the bright lights I wish I knew you I wish I knew you Oh, I wish I knew you when I was young [Verse 2] Truth, it's all that you need You bury that seed It's everything beautiful That sound comes from the underground It's all inside you now It's everything beautiful But what you, what you, what you, what you running from? And they got, they got, they got, they got you on the run So Friday night, Holy Ghost Take me to your level Show me the one I need the most I need the most [Chorus] I wish I knew you when I was young We could've got so high Now we're here, it's been so long Two strangers in the bright lights Oh, and I hope you don't mind We can share my mood, yeah Two strangers in the bright lights I wish I knew you I wish I knew you Oh, I wish I knew you when I was young [Bridge] Maybe we can share my mood Whoa, whoa, whoa Maybe we can share my mood Whoa, whoa, whoa Maybe we can share my mood Whoa, whoa, whoa [Chorus] I wish I knew you when I was young We could've got so high Now we're here, it's been so long Two strangers in the bright lights Oh, and I hope you don't mind We can share my mood, yeah Two strangers in the bright lights I wish I knew you I wish I knew you Oh, I wish I knew you when I was young

I heard this song and of course thought of all the people I wish I knew when I was young. Then I started to really think about the lyrics and I felt a sense that I was singing this song to myself. I wish I knew Me when I was young. I wish I could’ve been the person I am now when I was young. I wish I could’ve accepted myself for who I was when I was young (we could’ve got so high) This song goes out to all the young girls that are strangers to themselves. Get to know yourself. Share your mood. Cuz you’ll be in the bright lights someday and you’ll be confident with who you are. Get on it now. Time is precious
@julietjowett96782 жыл бұрын
I can say I knew me when I was young, but very much appreciate your comment. The thing I wasn't able to put my finger on was the dichotomy of my personality though I could feel the shift between my heart and my intellect. I'm sure it would have made a difference if I could have found a way to use both at the same time, but we can't turn back time. Our world is now filled with young people asking the question, "who am I?". That is disturbing to me. We are who we are and if we think too much about it, then we are not.

Heard this song in June, Alicia played it over and over again. She told me she heard this with my son. Didn't listen to the words. Now I understand. The burdens she had to carry were immense. And I let her, my son, their children, her family and SO MANY MORE. I do not understand why. But I do know I am to blame. I never believed I could miss someone so much. I do not know what really happened. Am not ready for that information. I just understand my part. There is nothing I can ever do to change it. I wish I could. I can forgive other's. I can't forgive myself. No one deserves disrespect, laziness, selfishness, indisivenes, and I can't change the circumstances. I will change me. For my son.

Sheesh, anyone who says no good music comes out anymore nowadays probably thinks that because they spend all their time listening to music from back in the day. There is SO freaking much to hear and enjoy in today's music you have to be living in self-imposed exile to the olden days not to find joy out here! FGS, you're on the internet, you're on youtube...go on an expedition, follow links, track down unknown artists and whole new worlds - it's all here. When you work in the public you often interact with people you wouldn't normally interact with, and for me, when I was in my early 20s, it was with this woman who I worked with (although in a different department) who is about 10 years my senior, and I had the hugest crush on her. We ended up becoming friends over the 6 or 7 years we worked together and became very trusting of each other with our personal lives. This song always makes me think of her even years later. Although this doesn't particularly have to do with the song, it does make me wish I was born a few years earlier to potentially have been able to have a stronger connection with her.

He recognized me and said my name which kind of took me by surprise. Then he told me who he was and I was blown away. Talk about a glow up. The bad thing was I had a boyfriend at the time. That relationship fell apart. Then he connected on New Year's Eve. I told him I would regret it if we didn't kiss at midnight. That's exactly what we did and we've been together ever since. ❤

We shared this silence that felt so profound and although no words were exchanged, we could all feel each other’s emotions. It's sad that they didn't know each other when they were younger, but It is very possible and actually likely that being together when younger would've been bad since most younger relationships don't work out so it's happy because it's better to have met later in life but sad because of what could have been and then we go back to the beginning. Really it's such a great song.
