Where else would you have a ski resort in Iceland, where, I guess, every mountain is volcanic in origin. Lovely pictures again, thank you.

Iceland has enough craters to use as sports arenas (non-active craters), there were 3 neatly lined up to use, #1 for football, #2 roller rink, and # rolling mud derbies. TY Gylfi for the scenic drone video, keep the good work.

Again your footage makes me catch my breath at the beauty of your country. Your country is there because of volcanic and techtonic movement due to its earth location. The destruction of volcano activity is the birth of new land. The reality of an end becoming a new beginning. You see the beautiful and have recorded it.

It’s safe to say that all elevation differences are on current or past tectonic activity. It’s called “relief” because flat terrain is sometimes found to be boring. I find a plain gives me no sense of space. It’s a lonely void.

In the US, we’re taught about volcanos as part of a curriculum-just as we’re taught about the moon and the bottom of the ocean. Fascinating and essential to a complete education but remote from our lived experiences. Does Iceland’s volcanic activity affect its pedagogy?

I imagine that the crater isn't rumbling under the surface at present, because of the amount of snow inside it.
@KatlaJokulsdottir9 ай бұрын
Katla has 400-700m ice in her caldera, but that doesn't prevent her from going off every now and then... there is however the hypothesis that global warming could trigger a period of enhanced volcanism in Icelandic volcanoes that now have a glacier on them: The melting of the glaciers could reduce the pressure and make it easier for the magma to come out! Of course, at some stage thins would return to equilibrium.
