Excellent video Gylfi, as always!! Absolutely LOVE the drone footage in this one - absolutely beautiful!! It definitely raises an eyebrow to hear of so many floods in such a short time, that's for sure. Hopefully this is just Katla burping, and not getting ready for a big event. If a big event were to happen, I'd be fearful for the residents of Vík. I am always amazed by the efficiency of the Icelandic people! Here in the U.S., that road would've taken years to repair, countless pointless meetings, and miles of government red tape. Kudos to the workers for getting that repaired so quickly! Just goes to show what a "can-do" attitude can accomplish... and perhaps a bit of the þetta Reddast philosophy as well :p I agree with your suggestion - a SMS warning is a great idea!! A little information never hurts, and worst-case scenario, people are more informed and better prepared. I hope the Icelandic Officials heed your recommendation! Thank you again, Gylfi! You always bring the best information and videos!!

We had beautiful sunshine in Akureyri at the end of August and went out on the boat to see the whales in the morning. In the afternoon, we drove through the spectacular scenery to Siglufjordur. There was snow on the mountains all around us. Glorious!
