You can also tan fur with aluminum sulphate it is a fertilizer pick it up a Home Depot mix 1 pound of aluminum sulphate, 1 pound of pickling salt, in 5 gallons of warm water. Soak hides over night then work them till the fur and leather dries

Robert; if you put a small piece of tie wire on each spring where your safeties hang when removed , when you set your trap and remove your safeties tie them back , just one or two wraps. you will never leave them on again! A tied safety can never slip on either . GREAT CATCH !!

Hi Robert. Nice to see the line producing good for you. Your efforts are paying off. If you get into tanning and making mitts and hats I think you you would be able to sale them easy, put some nice bead work on the mitts that would be awesome. Those were really good tunes ,the guys got talent.

I’ve used egg and brain to tan fur and it works but not the best results. It’s kinda trial and error and I don’t like ruining fur. I tan my lynx and martins with C4 from dambeaver and it’s super simple and produces durable hide.

I use brains to tan my fur you can save brains from the animals you trap or pig/cow brains from butcher. Tip every animal has enough brain to tan its own hide so the lynx you caught you can take the brains out of it and there's enough to tan its hide hopefully that helps you
@mikeanthony39864 жыл бұрын

I read this and immediately thought of you Robert. "Instead of making fun of our own people that don’t know how to hunt, fish, trap, forage, bead, weave, sew, speak their language, why don’t you mentor them? Teach each other, build each other up. Bartering isn’t just about trading tangible items but also trading valuable knowledge. Hoarding knowledge is selfish. Tell me I’m wrong?"

I agree 100 Robert. This could have been a quote from you as it align very much from what I have seen of your beliefs. Keep on being awesome.
