Being on the footplate of a steam loco pulling a heavy train on the rising gradient must have been a vision of Hades...

Yes, I've heard that footplate men, would often lie on the floor with the faces wrapped in wet rags to try and avoid the smoke!

excellent, very authentic with lots of railwaymen hanging around apparently doing nothing, but just waiting for the train to pass !!!!!..i can say that without any sarcasm, as i was a railwayman in the past

It’s going to be reopened soon as a cycle track and walkway, but I’d prefer it to be reopened as a railway. It must’ve been very claustrophobic in the days of steam not to mention a bottleneck. Wonder why it wasn’t built to double track width from day one.

@nigelkthomas9501 >>> You wait in a few years after they convert that tunnel into cycle track - as their no going back to using it as rail tunnel after....... the howls of finger pointing blame & scandal will be rife.... labour + other loonie leftists in power rather out (then) saying it should have been put back into use a rail tunnel for full connection to the rail network as their little choice for transport options than bus! Once that heads of valley road ices or closed off even the new access road that years in the making without anything to show for all the money being spent. Cheaper to reopen tunnel for a rail connection then send it all to Bridgend as it once was - winters... main road closes = area isolated! 🤭

That is so impressive! It must have taken ages to create. It brought back memories of my trip as a child from Penygraig to Aberavon during the mid sixties.

The home signal, the red one would have been pulled off first followed by the distant, the yellow one. They were interlocked meaning that it was totally impossible to pull them off together.

Ha ha I wasn't sure if anyone would sit through it, if I did the whole tunnel in real time!?

Realised immediately it was animation - no litter, and tidy.

Is there a way to change the textures and tracks to use a diffrent dlc for textures
@TheOpenBoatDAFFODIL Жыл бұрын
There are methods, I believe? Do an internet search, I'm no expert.

Quick question in reality could this route of survived if the tunnel had not suffered from subsidence?
@TheOpenBoatDAFFODIL6 жыл бұрын
The tunnel has never suffered from subsidence, that was a myth put out by BR to get the line closed. Visit this site to see the current efforts to get the tunnel reopened www.rhonddatunnelsociety.co.uk
