The Rhythm In Which Flowers Bloom - Making Mosaic Damascus Knives

In this video you see me making my first mosaic damascus knife set. A technique which allows me to really make organised patterns, almost like painting in steel. My folding the steel in certain directions, I end up with patterns like this.

Oi Floris; I've been binge watching your videos for a bit. And it has just occurred to me: if you're interested enough in metallurgy to make your own tamahagane, and you like pattern welded Damascus, it might be interesting to try to make historical Damascus blades from wootz steel. I mean, since the origin of wootz steel is still uncertain in the details, any experiment you make would be of academic as well as artistic interest. Do you know Niels Provos? There are some people trying to recreate this, and I think it would be right up your street.
