I think what a lot of people don't realize is that you can have qualities of each of the houses. You just get sorted into your house depending on what qualities you value the most. For example, I am a Hufflepuff. I'm also smart but I value loyalty and being nice more than I value my intelligence. *Your house does not define everything about you. It defines what aspects of yourself you believe in the most.*

SLYTHERINS AREN'T EVIL We have the capability of becoming evil, more so than other houses, because of our views and values. We have our goals and will do just about anything to get there. Though we're more easily evil, it's not because of some sort of Slytherin trait. It's just how we go about reaching our goals. It's the reason Trump would be a Slytherin-he will do whatever it'll take to get what he believes is right. We have more ambition and cunning than any other house. It's why people think we're evil.

I'm in the same Hogwarts and Ilvermorny houses as you! I guess the reason why many families are in the same Hogwarts house in the books is because the sorting hat gives you a choice. Harry was worried he would be in Slytherin. The pottermore site can give you an idea where you would be, but it's not as accurate as the actual hat.
