Videos like this are my favorite (of course I love cs too) I really enjoy hearing your take on these issues. There’s so much bias behind so many videos covering these topics that it’s hard to get a clear picture of what people actually think. It’s nice to hear people have a level head when talking about these things. No matter if I agree or disagree with you, I know it’s what you feel and that you aren’t politically or monetarily motivated to feel that way

@Richard Lewis There are some small corrections that need to be made about how you presented the story about the Wilfred Laurier Student, Lindsay Shepherd. First She is a Student getting her Masters degree in Cultural Analysis and Social Theory. She is a Teachers Assistant that Teaches a class for freshman on Communication because her B.A. is in Communication. The lesson for the day was on pronouns, specifically using gendered pronouns as well as the singular they. She brought up 5min of a TV show called The Agenda with Steve Paikin, and the section contained 2 University of Toronto professors Nicholas Matte and Jordan Peterson. The recording is of the meeting she had with her supervising professor Nathan Rambukkana, another professor, Herbert Pimlott, as well as Adria Joel, manager of Gendered Violence Prevention and Support at the school. They were reprimanding her because of a "complaint" received about her being trans-phobic and creating an unsafe environment for trans student. It is now unclear if there ever was a complaint filed according to a statement made by her attorney. Not trying to excuse WLU or the professors that had the meeting with her, but the university doing this to a student that was presenting, rather than a TA teaching a class, is far more egregious.

I believe it can mean opposite/opposing (certainly in chemistry) meaning in the example of being transgender you identify with the gender opposing your biological sex. Going to university at the moment, and while I definitely don't think that this trend of oversensitive behavior is as wide reaching as it seems at times, you can definitely see the roots of it. Hopefully it stays in the few places where it's most prevalent.

I graduated from my masters just recently and I tend to disagree with you - I mean I think it is spreading at a pretty fast rate and it's scary. The university I went to my undergraduate study banned words that are non gender neutral (e.g. mankind) from being used in assignments last year and the university I graduated from for my masters was having a poll on student union website just few months ago about whether the university should allocate a room at the library called "crying corner" for people to go and cry and no one would be allowed to ask them why they are crying (when I looked at the results it was heavily in favor of the room getting introduced but I don't know if anything has been done about it) . So yeah, I feel quite happy that I've finished my studies and grazed past having to deal with such bullshit.
