Love your reaction vids. This is just my opinion, but I think a lot of fans would say the funniest talk between Ricky, Steve, and Karl took place on their original XFM radio shows, years before the animated HBO shows. All those radio episodes are on KZbin. In fact, their best stuff is on the early shows (seasons 1 and 2). After that, it starts to fall off a bit, and by the time of the HBO series a lot of the humor can seem forced. Still funny, but not as fresh and hilarious as the earlier bits when Ricky and Steve were just getting to know Karl. Thanks again for your vids!

The audio comes from their podcasts. The discussions are usually a bit longer. The podcasts are about an hour long so they spliced clips from all of them to put these together. In fact, at one point the podcast was #1 in the world in terms of listeners. Ricky sort of started it when it first became a concept. You should check them out as well as their XFM radio show.

I'm pretty sure I heard that Plato thing before, but it wasn't an egg being cracked, it was a turtle.. The birds drop the turtles on rocks to crack them open so they could eat, and one bird thought Plato's bald head shining in the sun was a rock, and so he was killed by a dropped turtle.

You didn't miss anything. The whole cobblers part was a digression and they just got back on topic really fast. He only mentioned a cobbler because his uncle was happy with his cobbler job and the question was who he would want to be. It actually makes a lot of sense when you think about it.

Devon, you should check out Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle. I think there are 6 full episodes, the last series, and loads of clips from earlier series. There are also a couple of his live shows on KZbin as well. Lee is the Professor of Comedic Philosophy. He tells the audience what to laugh, he explains why they should laugh, he tells them when to laugh. They laugh and they still don't understand how, why. or what. I howl every time I see this guy. He is on another level intellectually.

You said you felt like you missed something when they went from cobblers to his old job, like they cut stuff out. The answer to that is, yes you are right. The animated hbo shows are just animated from their original podcasts they used to be 50 minutes long. So they just animated the "best bits" even tho a lot of fun shit is missing. So you rly get more out of the original podcasts but watching them again with animations is quite fun. And its rly fun to watch them with you. Keep it up. :)

All the stories you hear are from the X FM Ricky Gervais Show, it used to be a radio show that aired for a couple of hours weekly. They are available for download, if err you cough, cough (torrent search) and don't mind stretching copyright laws. HBO turned these stories into the show you are watching now, so you're missing a lot of the content.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I understand the Ricky Gervais Show (radio show) and the XFM podcasts are the same thing. The Ricky Gervais Show (tv show, animation) is just random conversations from the XFM podcast put together. The conversations does not happen in the order they are shown here, they are just put together to create coherent episodes.

If I understand the chronology, it goes like this. First there were the original XFM radio shows. After that came the podcasts. And after that came the animated HBO shows taken from the podcasts, not from the original XFM shows. I could be wrong, but I don't think there ever was such a thing as an "XFM podcast". I believe the podcast came after Karl quit his job at XFM to devote himself to the new podcast venture. It's the original XFM radio shows where the funniest stuff is, IMHO.
