The Ricoh GRiiix Street Photography Camera (in London)

A great opportunity to try the Ricoh GRiiix to do some street photography in London. The camera was set to take Black and White JPGs and set to use the snap focus. Anything from 3.5 metres to infinity should be in focus with my settings.

This was a great trip to London to try this camera. I probably need to try it again to feel really comfortable with it. However, it's a lovely small discreet camera that does fit in your pocket. The sensor is the same as the Canon M50 mark ii and it takes excellent photos. I can't wait to have another go. I would not swap this for my Canon M50 mark ii but great if you want to travel really light. The snap focus is an excellent feature. I use autofocus, and never zone. It will be interesting to see how the focusing works or fails on photos taken quickly on autofocus. I would set the camera to 1/400s unless super gloomy, then perhaps to 1/320s. I seem to run into that special situation where slower speeds don't cut it and get the blur. Heck, maybe I need to do blur shots now and then? When you edit these, try using HDR and I bet they pop -- some are a tad bit dark. Maybe bright on those? I bet they add tilt screen to the fourth gen. The 40mm field of view looks fine. Of course, when we have that, we find a need for wider or longer, but when using zoom, I found many times there is no time to zoom, or you get so exciting at the find, you forget you have a zoom! 🤭 When you smell the perfume, snap the shot. - Loren
