Neutral skin toned people literally drive themselves up the wall trying to figure that out. It took me YEARS of washing myself out in ultra cool foundations thinking just because Im pale I’m cool by default. A makeup artist finally cracked the case cause both warm and cool didnt quite get it right. My veins are blue and green in different places, but they do lean a little bluer just because I’m so pale. I’m trying to find my right shade of red. I hate brassy yellow in my hair, but I feel like a heavy violent red would just be too much for my skin. I don’t know how I want to readjust my red. You have a lovely channel! You speak naturally and conversationally on camera, you’re so sweet! Keep it up.

Melvin Williams with her being on youtube for as long as she has and being able to express to us the kind of person she is, I'm pretty sure most of her subscribers will think that it is perfectly safe and fine sending her a pic for that purpose. other circumstances would be a different story. we all have our opinions. but she has shown that she truly is a good, kind person, so I see nothing wrong with asking a hairdresser for advice by sending a photo. fans do it all the time on snap chat and what not. usually pretty harmless. :)

@hollyneedsavaction36175 жыл бұрын
darci hasselbach if a foundation looks gray on you- it likely pulls a green in to correct any redness in the skin (acne/scars) so if you have olive undertones it will amp up the green in your skin! Look for foundations that have words like “luminous, radiance “ on them, these will pick up slightly gold and play well with your olive undertones- your skin will thank you!

I am so glad I found you"re channel, I found it because I had always used box dye, so my hair would come out so brassy. I thought I could just get a toner to fix that but then I started watching all these beauty video's and realized box dye might not be the way to go, so I went to sally's beauty supply and told her my issues, she help me pick out the right developers and I still got toner just in case. She explained the ratio to use but I was so scared to try new products I waited 3 weeks after buying it to even use it. By the time I decided to face my fears I forgot everything she said, so I read the instructions but it had 2 different ratios that I could of used depending on what I was doing to it, one of the was a ratio for high lifts which I. had no clue what that was. So I went on youtube to type in what are high lifts, you're video explaining 2 other thing's and what high lifts were was on there, that video literally saved me from making a mistake on the ratio that I should use for what I was doing. Then all you"re other videos popped up about how to color, tone and so much more, so I been binge watching you're videos and learning so much about questions I am always trying to figure out. Thank you so much for putting these videos up, I am learning so much that I been wanting to know and that I did not know even down to contouring my face. I have never contoured my face before, ever since I started watching youtube videos 7 months ago I did not know how popular contouring was or how to even do it. I rarely wear anything expect eye liner and mascara. If I use foundation that is literally all I use and sometimes powder. I always wondered why I could not get my concealer to work, like I would put it on and think that is all I had to do but I was always disappointed because the marks I was trying to conceal still showed through. Well apparently I was not doing to right and I did not put anything on expect for the concealer so that is why it was not working, there are other steps involved I learned lol. KZbin has saved me, it has taight me so much that I had no clue about thanks to people like you that make these types of videos. I have watched so many different people on youtube which they knew what they were doing but I would still feel so overwhelmed with all the steps and info, until I found you're videos last night. You explain thing's so clear you put up examples as you are explaining, I do not feel overwhelmed and I understand everything so clearly thanks to the way you explain thing's, just like when I did my hair I watch a few of you're videos while doing my hair to follow along and did exactly what you said. My hair came out great, since I did not use box dye this time my hair was not that brassy at all there are a few strands of yellow here and there but the way it is done it blends in so well. I just colored last night but today I am going to tone it and honestly it blends in so well and there is not really that much yellow I feel like I am wasting the toner, so I am going to start watching more of you're videos right now to see if I can do something to help it without opening the toner. I am sorry this comment is so long like a book lol but I just want you to know how much I appreciate these videos you have posted and I cannot wait to watch the rest and any new one's you post. Again THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! You are a life saver and I know many other people think the same.

Christina Faye I personally love box hair dye!! I’m currently having my natural hair long and straight, dark blonde or honey blonde/light brown kind of hair. But I was black, red, purple, orange and dark brown in my teenage years... so each time I used a box dye and it worked! Although I ruined my hair with bleach when I went fully bright red. now I’m natural for around 4 years, my hair is in great condition but now I want some change again and color it dark chocolaty brown maybe with some slight mahogany... we’ll see. I will use Garnier Olia in Iced Chocolate probably. Two boxes for my long hair and it’s going to be great 😃

I think this is more about achieving a more harmonious look. With fashion colors though that is practically not an option so I think with fashion colors, you can do what you want.

Color me beautiful! From the 1980s. But you can get away with colors between yours as long as you balance it. I agree. I’m a spring and my hair is greying slowly. The color grey isn’t so good on me, so I wish I could co neutral blonde with Champaign lighter around the face. It takes more work. I don’t know if I’ll ever go white. My father finally turned all white at 85. I’m like him and he colored most of it warm until he went white and it looks great.

Olive skin can almost look gray or ashy at times.. Therefore it's neutral. HOWEVER, olive skin can tan to a warm OR cool tone. That's because there are several variations of olive skin as well. Some olive skin can pull more yellow or red and there are dark and pale olive skin tones as well. Confusing right
@sonjajulijana9058 жыл бұрын
Dude having a pale,yellow olive skintone is so annoying. My family is Mediterranean, so we are all naturally a warm olive color, but I happened to be extremely pale (MAC nc15 is kind of my shade when it comes to how pale it is, but it is waaaay too pink for me). I honestly have no idea what hair color suits me when I am not self tanned/my pale skin :/
@aadams0688 жыл бұрын
That sounds like a beautiful complexion you have! Because you're pale, and tan yellow I'd say you're warm. Most olive skin tones that are darker, tend to tan with a reddish undertone or a true brown. Paler olive skin, I've noticed, tends to tan more yellow, which is warm. (:

Wow ... great tips! I'm older (64) and born and have always been blonde. I used to be a bit ashier when younger now more golden. I feel as if my color now makes me look older, drab ... I've never been happy with any color I've ever had done so have done my own for 20 years. I just do not want to have to go to a monthly hair appointment so have resisted beginning again. I think I'm fairly more neutral but I believe there is a color that would have me look younger and not so drab. I'd love to see you work with older clients - color, cut, etc. Thanks for all you do sweetheart.

It took forever for me to realize I was cool toned. I feel like neutrals are not common and not really represented well in the beauty community. Hair, foundation shades, articles talking about color theory in makeup and hair that I find rarely discuss neutral skin tones. If they do, it’s just barely mentioned and like an afterthought. Keep it up! Your videos are so informative and nonjudgmental to those without a cosmo license! You should do a video on each skin tone! What to wear/ shades to style if your cool/warm/neutral... etc. ❤️

IMO, through my many yrs of hair coloring, it is always most flattering to color your hair in accordance with your skin undertone (cool warm neutral). Just because the name of your hair color is golden this or warm that or champagne something else doesn't mean that it should effect the "rules of thumb" in hair dyeing. Whether dying from a box or going to a salon, shades should always be in accordance with skin undertone. For instance, if you're a cool tone the dye shade would be a name like "ash blonde" or medium ash brown. If you're a warm undertone, the dye shade will be something like "golden blonde" or "warm golden brown". Stephanie please don't take offense, this is not meant to insult, but I can tell by your profile photo that your hair color is too warm for your skin tone. Your hair appears almost orange up against your pinkish skin. Which is exactly what she was describing in this video. I have a similar issue in the summer with the sun lightening my dye making it turn brassy.
@StephanieSharp28 жыл бұрын
+Allyson Sixx no offence taken at all, that photo of me is two years old. My hair at the moment is darker, I will have to change my profile photo. Thanks for the comment. 😀
@Allyson6C8 жыл бұрын
+Stephanie Sharp lol thanks. I almost feel rude saying certain things, but I used both of us an example of the undertone clash that can happen (your pic & my brassiness issue) just to give a couple of clear, concise examples without offending. The Beyoncé example shown in the video (cool ash toned hair up against warm toned skin) was a fantastic depiction of this clash as well. It happens very easy with us cool skinned people, because it only takes a slight amount of yellow, orange, or brassiness to throw off the entire look. When hair dye oxidizes and changes hue or color, it can do the same thing as applying the wrong color. That is the drawback (for me) to coloring is the maintenance of ensuring it doesn't turn brassy. Anyway hope this is helpful and best to you in your coloring excursions! Lol. 😜

I'm glad you said something. I was never happy with that colour from a few years ago and had a word with my hairdresser about it, as they always seemed to recommend honey blonde. I've gone a bit darker since and will definitely take notice of the cooler colour spectrum, even if I decide to go blonde again. It is something I have been wondering about for a long time, as I always match my make up to a cool skin tone, but my hair colour always seemed off (and it was confusing, as I said, my natural hair colour is golden brown, but it must have had cooler undertones all along). Thanks again for your advice.

I colored my hair for the first time a few weeks ago and my colorist sucked so bad. I wanted to go with highlights because that's easiest for a first try but it went super super yellow (I have a very fair cool skintone) and my colorist was like; "wasn't this what you wanted?". LOOK AT IT!! It looked awful. Luckily she did try to fix it, but I'm totally going to a different salon next time, I do want a colorist who understands what looks good on people. -.-'
