I will let you know in about a month I have the PR-5000 rack w/storage, strap safties, dip attachment, zero gap bench w/leg attachment, bumper plates, battle rope, dumbbell racks, and their functional trainer. I went with everything from Rep and was able to stay around 5k which after searching all the other name brand websites plus watching most of your reviews and garage gym reviews. There was no way to even come close to that price range. Also companies like Rogue or Titan don't have functional trainers. I truly am hoping all of this is closer to Rogue quality compared to Titan.
@Hahner88
@Hahner88 5 жыл бұрын
Also to add I am sitting here overseas bored out of my mind I have watched literally hundreds of reviews. So as you stated the 1" hardware is better the rest of the rack that you will actually use are 1" holes. Then the J-cups are better as they are duel locking which they are not on the PR-5000, Also their band pegs seem nice having the rim around the edge. As for why I chose the PR-5000 is it basically has the same footprint as the half rack. I am 6'4" so if I have someone else over who is say 5'3" then I could squat or bench outside of the rack and they can be inside of the rack. I also like the strap safeties better than spotter arms. The rack storage on the PR-5000 only has 4 weight horns on both sides so I added an extra pair at only $39.99. So with those weight horns added it is about $120 more to get a full rack with storage it just didn't make sense to me to get the half rack being that it almost has the same footprint. Oh and one more thing I like doing shrugs, overhead press, and barbell rows outside of the rack and I figured the stationary band pegs would be in my way if I wanted to set the bar down right in front of the rack. I would always have to walk backwards instead of just lifting right in front of the J-hooks.
@BasementBrandon
@BasementBrandon 5 жыл бұрын
Appreciate the insight. I too prefer actually lifting inside the cage with pins or straps, which may or may not have played a factor in my final decision!

Funny when I was going to buy the pr5000 before Christmas the website said in stock then I hit buy and it was back ordered. I called and they said 2 months so I canceled and got rogue just because of all the add ons. But my true dream rack was the elitefts ( Williamstrength) that thing is a tank. By far the most sturdy rack I ever used but the add on stuff not as good as rogue. Rep does have the best benches to me.

Williams Strength does build some really nice stuff, a lot of it comes welded already, which I didn't want, and they don't use 4 way holes (another thing I wanted). That being said, still fantastic equipment.

I bought the PR-5000 from Rep Fitness, couldn't be happier. Solid construction and looks great, with that said... shipping was not amazing. I got the standard black powdercoat and when I got it I noticed that some parts of the uprights had poked through the box and had somehow rubbed off the powdercoat. Not a big deal for me but if you are ordering one in a color powdercoat just know that your mileage may vary.

I save a ton of money on gym equipment by making it myself. I started by building myself some heavy duty squat stands. No issues, other than realizing that I would rather have a rack. Next squat solution was to build a replica of Mark Rippetoe's squat rack (made with c-channel). Now that I have had it for awhile, I realize that it's not as nice or useful as a more traditional rack. I just finished building a replica of the Rogue RML-690. Well, sort of. The frame style is the RML-690, but I used the larger 1" hardware and holes of the RM-6. I think this Rogue replica cost me about $250 in materials. Which is way better than spending the $2,000 on the one from Rogue. Since I copied the design, exactly, all of the Rogue accessories will work on it, too. I mean, it's obviously easier to just buy a rack. But, if you're handy in a garage/workshop, you can save yourself a ton of money.

Even though Rep imports from overseas, from my experience talking to some of the ownership, they at least go over there frequently to do quality control checks, which is why I think for the most part they're above some of the bargin brands.
