Love your videos!My question is whats the best affordable deer feed to feed Im in Louisiana?
@susanl435 Жыл бұрын
Please do your best to help me! In our town we have a Tractor Supply. Tractor Supply has four or five different deer feeds. Which of these for or five different feeds is best for the deer during the winter in cold, snow covered northern Utah? Your assistance will be greatly appreciated!

What protein pellets do y’all recommend? I’ve been researching for about a month and can’t decide what the best choice is. I want it for year around (except during rifle season)

If whitetail deer can’t digest fat then how are they able to live off of acorns in the winter when they are high in fat?

They also have carbs in them

It's mainly about drought. If not much water, kidneys start to decline. If they are eating too much fat as their main source of food, (on top of acorns, but they will choose the easiest food source to get and it's prob yours or your neighbors "supplemental" food which prob has too much fat) it will cause kidney problems. They may not die that year but they may die too young from kidney failure if repetitive yrar after year. It is not a problem to feed them as their main source bc they will still eat plants and acorns, just make sure it's low in fat and a max of 20% in protein. In a drought, plants have less moisture in them and yes they will travel FAR to find a water source. It's always a good idea to put a small water source (bury a plastic container if you must) on your property. One every 15 acres or so. This will also encourage them to stay on or near your property ALL year!!

Also the deer liver produces bile since they do not have a gallbladder. It's just not adequate enough to help break down tons of fat

Growing fawns need 20-22% protein the first few months of being on solid feedstuffs. Does need around 20% protein when lactating and "feeding for two." Over 5% fat is too much for the reason stated in the video. Ingredients and research has improved in the last 50 years lol.

Steps to grow big deer: #1. Put up a 10' high fence to keep them in, preferably no more than about 20 acres. #2. Feed them like crazy
